2. A Run down

Schiefer's questions focused on:

Clark--Dean's response that he likes the man, but he was a Repub til a few weeks ago-- Shiefer asks how can you say that--Dean responds w/ his Oct statement on War, his quoted support of Rummy etc., etc. Dean reiterates his liking of Clark--but focuses on issue of Clark being an insider-supported Candidate. All the DNC-DLC-er bigwigs putting in their support for Clark. Dean's message is Clark is an insider-backed candidate, etc.

Re: Gep/Gingrich-- Dean says it was false--Schiefer keeps up on it--Dean repeats that it was false--etc.


Schiefer--the flipflop question-- Dean's responses-- as a physician--you deal w/ theories and facts. When new facts come up you adjust your position. Problem w/ Republicans--when facts don't support theories/policies--they jettison the facts.

(If you get a chance--look at the lady sitting behind Dean when he saying this--she's listening--then smiling and nodding and then chuckling at his crack against Republicans)

Dean's strategy re: flip flop accusation of RNC--was sound--it appears--as opposed to using the fact/theory logic first--he waits and then lets Shchiefer group them all together--and then Dean can squash all of them with his position.

BTW--Dean's used the theory/facts/physician thing in the past-- Unfortunately--the labeling still continues.

That's about all they talked about.

Sounds like a waste of time - not because of Dean by any means, just because of the questions he was asked. All designed to put Dean on the defensive or to go on the offensive against other candidates.

Yeah, I know it's politics and the media... so it's "normal"... but it still sucks.

That's the probelm w/ the media right now.

6. In my perfect world...

these primaries would be about how all ten candidates were going to give Bush* the smackdown. And not just negative things about how Bush sucks, but postitive things too. But of course, in the primaries, the Dems are running against each other. And if they have ammunition and use it, it's hard to fault them really.
