Military "commission" vs. "tribunal" |
|
The Bushies have apparently won this one. They weren't able to get the MSM to call "suicide bombers" "homicide bombers." But they have successfully changed "military tribunal" to "military commission." I thought a military commission was something an officer had.

You can call a hospital a regional medical center and it is still a hospital.
You can call a nursing home a skilled nursing facility but it is still a nursing home.
You can call Personnel Human Resources but it is still Personnel
You can call the Housing department "Residence Life" but it is still housing.
You can call a war of aggression "bringing freedom to the world" but it is still a war of aggression.
You can call suicide bombers homicide bombers but they are still suicide bombers.
You can call a military tribunal a commission but it is still a commission.
God I am tired of typing that stuff. WHEW

is a court of law, military style. A commission is just a group doing a investigation. A Tribunal enforces the law, a commission just looks and sees what's wrong (in this context).
