CIA Analyst on Cheney Nuke Plan for IRAN
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 03:22 PM by BeHereNow
This came up on another thread in LBN regarding
the recent request by Uzbekistan fro the US to
leave. I found several links on various sites
about this article published originally in the
America Conservative- I think it needs to
be spread far and wide. What Giraldi is
reporting is straight from the PNAC agenda and
should scare the hell out of every thinking person.

Apparently Philip Giraldi, a CIA analyst and leaker on
the madness of the Bush/Cheney dynasty,
recently published a piece in the American Conservative
about Cheney's plan- while the American Conservative
copy is not available online, excerpts from it are appearing
all over the net now-
Here is one such, from Antiwar.com-

"One can only wonder, then, what
their reaction will be to this ominous news, revealed in
a recent issue of The American Conservative by
intelligence analyst Philip Giraldi:

"The Pentagon, acting under instructions from
Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has
tasked the United States Strategic Command
(STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to
be employed in response to another 9/11-type
terrorist attack on the United States. The plan
includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing
both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons.
Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic
targets, including numerous suspected
nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many
of the targets are hardened or are deep
underground and could not be taken out by
conventional weapons,hence the nuclear option.
As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional
on Iran actually being involved in the act of
terrorism directed against the United States. Several
senior Air Force officers involved in the planning
are reportedly appalled at the implications of what
they are doing – that Iran is being set up for an
unprovoked nuclear attack – but no one is
prepared to damage his career by posing any
objections.' "

Did you get THIS part? Un-friggin believable!!!

"As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional
on Iran actually being involved in the act of
terrorism directed against the United States."

3. The original article appeared in the AC, not LaRouche
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 03:26 PM by BeHereNow
The LaRouche web site has simply done what
hundreds of other are currently doing-
copied the text from the American Conservative
hard copy.
Do a search on Giraldi and the topic
Cheney, Iran, and you will find the same
text appearing all over the net.

I have no reason to believe that the American Conservative
would publish a false statement by Giraldi.

Hell, the recess alone?
Uzbekistan asks us to "get out?"
Halliburton closing down operations in Iran?
Recent demonizing news reports about Iran barbarianism?
Roberts, the protege of Bork, SCOTUS nominee?

Yes, I agree, creepy scary dots when you start connecting
them all.
Giraldi is not some fly-by-night source by any means.
He is a serious guy and the fact that HE reported
this is a BIG red flag in my frame of reference.

That's what pisses me off the most: "oil" being treated like the beginning and end of humanity!!!!

BULL!!! Humanity advanced before "oil" and will advance after "oil".

This "trend" is merely another human evil of exploitation. It's disgusting!!!!

No wonder Gandhi viewed the west as something other than civilized.

Geeziz jiminie. This is like a freakin INVITATION to Ir*an et al to preemptive strike our land, is it not?
What if Ir*an turns over all oil reserves and contracts to do so for the rest of their existence? And turn over their treasury. Would that suffice? Would that satisfy the conditions to not get nuked into radioactive debris?

Is oil that's been nuked useable anyway?

It is just too damn much to think about. No wonder the average American bear cannot push their thought processes into functionality.

Your election process is DEAD!!

So how are you Americans going to get rid of your fascist Government?

Americans are losing your rights one by one - and with the renewal of the Patriot Act, even the right to protest has vanished - or rather, put to Zones where no one can HEAR you.

When will Americans realise they have been DONE in properly?

John Roberts, John Bolton, John Negroponte - you are all in the John!!

8. Yes Jacob- THAT is the question on all our lips!
HOW do we stop the madmen.
Our representatives do NOT represent us.
We have no voice what so ever.

I do not believe for one minute that even the
most staunch Bushbot would supposrt a pre-emptive
strike on Iran, especially if it involved nuclear weaponry.

The neocons know this- they know they have
to cast the possibility of "blame" on Iran for something
terrible happening here at home.

Now I have have no idea if these people would
actually stage and "event" of 9-11 magnitude, however
I would not put it past them to know something is
coming that they can not prevent due to the fact
that they don't have specifics and thus are in the
process of planning to use an event to justify
the Iran attack.
The latter would be my guess.
How do we stop them?
I really don't know.

19. Grow up indeed- Politics is deadly serious
More so now than ever.
The problem is, there are VERY few people in this
country who understand what the REAL issues are.
They think the topical issues that are allowed for
discussion are what is being discussed by the
people running the show- the people running the
show could give a crap about those issues, but have
deftly understood their usefulness in diverting and
dividing the masses.
People think the Roberts nomination is about
whether Roe VS Wade will be overturned- THAT
is NOT the issue, the issue is FAR more serious-
the issue is the ideology of the judicial system that
Roberts represents. The Patriot Act crowd, the
Carl Schmitt and Leo Strauss approach to law.
And that ideology is the one that you are referring to
when you say our turn will come to disappear to
Gitmo or one of the hundreds of other undisclosed
US led prisons globally.
I hear you Jacob.
Can I come stay on your couch now?
I am truly frightened by what is happening
and I don't see the moment when Americans
are suddenly going to "grow-up" as you say
coming anytime soon, which means the other
will procede unimpeded.
I fear it is most certainly already too late.

29. Mass action
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 06:07 PM by kohodog
1). 9/11 magnitude was fairly small compared to what potentially could happen.

2). I think we are fast approaching the time of some sort of major mass action. Perhaps a general strike or something like that where people of conscious can act together in the course of their daily activities to create enough of a ruckus to create change. The politicians, even the so called Dem's (with a few exceptions) are not listening. Most of America is asleep, but I have been trying to think of an action that will:

1. Wake people up
2. Wake the politicians up
3. Shift awareness and momentum to we the people
4. Stop the BFEE neocon agenda in its tracks

Bush, Cheney and gang is acting like a dictatorship with no regard for the constitution. A recess appointment of Bolton will only serve to illustrate their hubris. Seriously, we're past the point of marches on Washington, and I think it is time for a creative action that can attract some of the moderates among us as well as the disaffected apolitical people. Any ideas for a theme or action that might be workable on a mass level?

Well, if they're going to go far beyond the bounds of government power, the retaliation needs to be breaking out of Taft-Hartley. Sincere people now hate the war-mongers Bush and Blair with all their hearts. I heard it during the testimony at the World Tribunal on Iraq held in Turkey. This was not even mntioned in passing by the US media.

You have been blacked out as far as "truth" is concerned. And the newly renewed "Patriot Act" has removed most of your Constitutional rights - and still the Americans do NOTHING.

Things will only happen in the US when "your" loved one is picked up, incarcerated and tortured - and then it will be too late.

'First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing.
Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing.
Then came the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist.
And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little.
Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.'

20. Russia and China call for closure of US bases in Central Asia
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2005/jul2005/base-j30.shtml I got this link this morning. Scarey shit coming down. Damn these bastards!! <SNIP> The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a grouping of China, Russia and four Central Asian republics, issued an unprecedented statement at a summit meeting on July 5 in Kazakhstan calling on the United States to set a deadline for the removal of its military bases in Central Asia.

<SNIP> Three days later, the lower house of the Russian parliament ratified a 15-year bilateral agreement between Russia and Kyrgyzstan to double the number of Russian troops at its airbase at Kant, east of Bishkek. Earlier this year, Russia announced plans to deploy more combat aircraft to Kant.

Washington established airbases in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to support the US invasion of Afghanistan in November 2001. Three-and-a-half years later, the bases are still operational and garrisoned by hundreds of American troops. In Kyrgyzstan, American and Russian aircraft are located within two minutes flying time from one another.

The SCO declaration demonstrates that Russia and China are taking tentative steps to challenge the US military presence in Central Asia.

46. And then when you have Iran and Iraq making agreements
to work together that could shut the US out....

And we have the precedent of US leaders intimidating other countries to do "our" bidding or else suffer from "regime change" or invasion...

And when we really don't have the troops to pull it off...

I think it's a very bad thing.

It figures that other countries would gang up against the US and our military. It's like just what Cheney has been asking for.

It does piss me off that he plans on protecting himself in his bunker (downthread). If anyone should pay the price for his own deeds - it would be him.

49. more "highlights"
"...During a visit to China on July 10, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice maintained that the US would not withdraw from Afghanistan. “It is our understanding that the people of Afghanistan want and need the help of the US armed forces,” she declared at a Beijing press conference. Having established a footprint in Central Asia for the first time in history, US imperialism does not intend to leave.

On July 14, the chairman of US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Richard Myers openly accused China and Russia of “trying to bully” the Central Asian states into calling for the closure of the American bases. Just who is bullying whom, however, was demonstrated this week, when US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld flew into Kyrgyzstan and rapidly extracted agreements for the continuation of the airbase in the country....

China has growing energy interests in Iran. Last October, China signed a long-term $70 billion agreement with Tehran for a 51 percent stake in Iran’s largest onshore oilfield. At the SCO summit, Iranian vice president, Mohammad Reza Aref, declared his country could become the “bridge” that connected the SCO states to the resources of the Persian Gulf....

Alongside the economic linkage, China and Russia are strengthening their military ties. The two countries are preparing their first joint military excise, to be conducted in China, involving 80,000 troops. Russia intends to send warships, ground forces and long-range bombers. Although both sides have denied that the exercise is aimed at any country, there is little doubt that it is a response to the eruption of US aggression since 2001 and the growing uncertainties in world politics."

I agree it is all a part of their SOP.

But it seems that people can become so focused on past misdeeds - that they aren't thinking about all the crap that is going on now and being planned for the future.

Of course - some of it can only be understood in hindsight.

China is in their little Armageddon plans too. The "north" marching down which out number the stable troops like a 1,000 to one. They have the population, they have the Army.

It's not in Revelations. It's in the imaginary minds of the fundies.

Scenario. This is so much bushshit. I spent considerable time studying the possible relevance of Revelations. I don't buy any of the RW/fundie/dooms-day provocateurs versions. That doesn't mean that others do not and will not push that agenda on the rest of us.

As a bunker to escape from Camp David should an attack occur, and as a bonus, it also is a comms center. Not quite as nefarious as you imply. It's not like they started construction in January 2001.

Yes, it is scary that there are plans that exist to use nukes. There are plans to use nukes against a lot of nations. SOP.

The administration isn't as all powerful as you think. That being said I think they are as crazy as we think. I also think they are less powerful than they believe they are, which is a truly dangerous combination. That's the source of my fears.

I would be shocked if there wasn't a bunker available to the VP residence prior to 2001, however I have no knowledge of that one. I was referring to site R, which was built in the 50's as an extension to the Ft Ritchie facilities, about the same time as the Greenbriar resort bunker, NORAD's bunker and who knows how many more.

I will disagree that bunkers are evidence of an impending nuke attack, but, that's also speculation on my part. We have enough to fear without speculation presented as evidence. It's fine to speculate, just label it so.

More: if anyone has wondered if the BFEE really controls everything, this should convince them that {a} they do not; {b} they recognize that Iran & associated forces are a potentially serious "enemy"; and {c} those who plan such destructive "war options" are animated by the darkest forces in human history.

Just down the road is a small, unassuming community college. Headed down their months back to grab some paperwork for a professor. Well, I thought I was at Military academy. Since I can remember, it's always been a quite, unassuming community college where many of the poorest attend. Oh, the poor kids are still there, but they have to dodge the military-types running in 6 x 6 multiple groups, all skin-headed, looking emotionless, cold and ready for (?)

'Round the corner, an innocent one-time elementary school. Then it became a police barrack. Now, the Feds are in there -- in the back, ya know. Everyone in these parts mention these strange clicks on their phones or feeling like someone is listening.

You know what. They probably are. :puke:

79. It was asked at Thurday's White House press conference
I wonder which reporter asked this question:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/07/20050728-3.html

Q Scott, an article in the American Conservative by Philip Giraldi, former intelligence operative, indicated the Vice President has revamped strategy towards Iran where there are now 300 to 400 missiles targeted various sites in Iran, including tactical nuclear missiles, especially aimed at the Iranian nuclear capabilities. These are now, according to Giraldi, also under command of the theater commander.

Given our problems with Iran and the fact that now that they have decided to go for the full cycle of their peaceful nuclear program, might we be anxious that if there were a terrorist incident here in the United States in any way connected to Iran, that there might be a knee-jerk reaction of utilizing this hair-trigger against the Iranians?

MR. McCLELLAN: One, I appreciate your question. I'm not going to get into accepting anything that you alleged in your comments. I'm not going to get into discussing matters relating to national security of that nature.

Two, in terms of Iran, Iran made some commitments to suspend their uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities. We expect them to abide by that commitment. If they were to begin those activities again, they would be violating the commitment they made under the Paris agreement with the Europeans. And we have made it very clear that Iran has a history of hiding their nuclear activities from the international community. That's why it's so important that you have some confidence-building measures, or objective guarantees in place, so that they show the international community that their nuclear program is not being used to develop weapons, or that they're not developing weapons under the cover of a civilian program.

And if Iran is going to violate their agreements, then we would, obviously, be looking at discussing with the Europeans, who have also committed to doing so, looking at going to the Security Council.
