How do you shut up all the American TV at once?
It happened like someone turned off a faucet. It happened about a week ago. We were feeling hope for a little while. They were covering one of the most serious breaches of trust in our country. Now they are not.

How the hell do you get all the TV to do that at once?

Is it because the media heads decide all at once? Is it because there are threats of audits by the IRS?

How does an administration get this much power to turn off all the media at once. That is one hell of an awesome power.

Is the word sent out that NASA is ok, Aruba is fine, do they tell the subjects to all of the stations at once?

How do they do it all at once?

5. All TV media is owned by 3 Reich Wing Corporations, they have more money
than god.. that isn't totally the reason.. they are complicit in the overthrow of the Constitution of the the United States.

it is ideological..and Power grabbing .. not just financial.

6. I know all that, but the way this happened transcends that.
I have never seen anything like it. It is almost like they were threatened. If not that, then we are sold completely out, more than I thought.

This is more than just financial. They are dividing the Democrats using abortion and Hillary and unions and religion, and if Howard Dean if he opens his mouth.

13. The Media.. the 3 Corporations.. act on Ideology first and money second
there is plenty of money outside the News..

if you own the media you control the minds of those who graduated from public schools.. that was step one .. TV addiction to Minutia is step 2.. concentration camps and the Ovens are step 3

15. I noticed that, too. Just when I tuned back in because of Plame Leak
coverage we seemed to have one good week and then "Boom" the coverage died. I'd thought with Chimp's polls being down and the White House reporters finally showing some balls that we might get the media to finally start reporting. But, then it died. Maybe it's because Bush was successful in ramming through CAFTA/Transporation and Energy bills and his agenda is going strong with our 10 turncoat Dems who've helped the Repugs every step of the way. Media loves power and maybe they thought when CAFTA passed that they could go back to their whore ways once again.

Either that or they just gave us "one week." In the interest of "fairness." :sarcasm:

But, it is disheartening to everyone that they've just come to a halt. And no coverage of Conyers and Waxman's letters at all. Anywhere, that I've seen. So, I'm tuning it out again and won't watch until something else breaks our way.

If it was Treason they abetted it. They want this to go away. It is too dangerous.

If they keep most people in the dark, then when Fitz is blind sided, there will be no demonstrations and no understanding of the Constitutional crisis.

I spent over an hour explaining TraitorGate to three family members yesterday - it took an hour befor it sunk in and made everyone silent.

7. The trouble is, when there's an ongoing investigation, and nothing new
being released and no indictments, there's no "meat" for the news machine to feed on until something else happens (arrests, indictments, etc.).

Now of course the reporters could actually DIG around and find out some information on their own. But they won't.

9. There's lots of meat. Reporters read here and the blogs.
They do it all the time. They are deliberating suppressing info, all of them at once.

It is like I felt when I watched the anchors in the movie "They Live". Only they were aliens. These are supposed to be humans.

They don't hesitate to put out dirt on our Democrats while suppressing the story of Rovegate again.

11. What's substantially new that's reported here? I see mostly threads that
reflect what appears in news or what talking heads in media are saying about the subject.

14. Not always.
There is good stuff going on here. It is easier to keep up with at the blogs, though. There is research of all kinds at the blogs I frequent, political, world, scientific.

Trouble is this place moves so fast that a really good post disappears. One can put a lot of work and research into something and it is gone because of the OMG threads with explanation points.

16. Right but can someone post a link to a thread here on DU with some
substantially new "news" on Plame/Rove that doesn't just amount to what some media person said about it, that is, say, new information from the past week?

My point was simply, even without any actual conspiracy, the media simply stops reporting when they don't have much grist for their mill. The difference is that older versions of the media would have done much more active investigation to dig up their own info.

17. Right, they are lazy.
Yes, there is a lot of stuff at Kos, Booman, and other blogs. A lot of it is new. But it is usually pretty complicated to follow, and it gets neglected.

I have also seen some good stuff at Bartcop.

I was wondering the same thing. One night(of many) they had the Holloway story for their entire program on CNN,MSNBC,Fox at the same time.If Fitzgerald ever comes down with some indictments the heat will be back on...... until some kid falls down a well.

12. Karl Rove gave a speech in April 2003
where he said he wanted the Iraq war off the TV screens.

The speech was on a Sunday, and on Wednesday I noticed all the cable channels abrubtly took down their "War on Iraq" graphics.
