Yeah, he hung around several classmates back in college.

NO ONE really ever goes to the House with good qualifications. A lawyer? A District Attorney in a small town? Governors shoot for the Senate.

concerning Hackett gave me pause at first whether or not to trust him. I hope he's the real deal too. Anybody who has the cajones to call chimpy a chickenhawk SOB has to be though I would think. BTW I live in Cleveland so it was of some interest that you went to school here.

7. He was a young wild and crazy guy.

Actually, he wasn't even that crazy... wild? Absolutely! He was in the Marines back then - VERY VERY patriotic, no one will EVER be able to take that away from him. He didn't use drugs, never smoked anything, he drank beer and that's when the wildness began.

At the time, he lived with a bunch of art students who were more or less the "kewl kids" in the school. Some of them were serious fucking assholes and perhaps their asshole-osity rubbed off on him. :shrug:

Over the past week I've been emailing friends and everyone agrees that as annoying as he could be he really wasn't that bad. Think about it? We were all 18-20 years old at the time (The Raygun 80's!), I'm certainly not the same person I was then, he most definitely isn't!

From what I've read on his views, he has hit every note on issues that are important to me; social security, education, health care, pro-choice, anti-corporate, stupid wars, etc. I do think he's sincere in his convictions and I'm very impressed with the man he grew up to be.

I hope he hands Schmitt's ass back to the GOP.


BTW, I loved my time in Cleve-O! :7
