Can a country ever be too free?
London was bombed by some of it's own citizens - born and raised.
The UK is one of the most liberal countries on earth. People are
free to preach hatred even against the very state that gives
them this freedom!

How screwed up do you have to be to bite the hand that feeds you?

Is it possible for a country to be too free? Many in the UK now
say enough is enough - time to crack down on extreme ideas and
philosophies. I love and respect the UK. I hope they never lose
the liberalism that makes them so great.

Do you think there will ever be any home-grown US terrorist
attacks? Could any Muslim raised in America ever become
a suicide bomber like the UK guys? Would thinking like this
result in racism and excessive curtailment of the rights of minorities?

2. Sometimes extreme measure can be warranted.
Lest we forget Oklahoma City!!

Timothy McVeigh was homegrown and trained by the military!

I probably part company some on this subject, but if a pattern of major crimes (bombings, for instance) were committed by redheaded white men, then the law enforcement would be stopping redheaded white men in any area that was deemed at risk. And if they DIDN'T, we would be asking WHY..especially after the next redheaded white man bombed something else!

It just seems to me that to always consider "description profiling" to be "racial profiling" is counter-productive.

5. Those in power
must be kept in fear of the feeding hand being bitten lest they dominate us all.

Biting the hand that feeds is not insane when that hand bludgeons with a stick.

However people who are wanting to dominate will gladly throw away others freedom for a chance at domination.

Be it an attack from the bottom UK and Oklahoma or a conspiracy from the top 9/11.
The desire is for the corrupted power of domination be it an empire or theocracy.Either way it is power grabbing for the sake or LORDING it over others that creates problems with freedom.

A bully a rapist and a terrorist( be it a state official in power or dangerous mad bomber terrorist) All dominator's want power and they abuse others TRUST to get that power so they can abuse more and feel more in control.Their definition of freedom is sick, to them it means they are free to freely take advantage of,
control, force, dominate, use, scapegoat, harass, lord, abuse, rape and pillage the "subjected"and powerless. This is why they CHOOSE to do the crimes they do because they want to dominate..

3. Freedom is great and Wonderful But
Freedom is not utopia. There is a price to pay for freedom and one is being able to preach hatred. It has gone on here in America for decades, from the KKK to the neo-Nazis. Yes, we do have terrorist right here in America spewing their own form of hate. I don't think UK is too free. What alternative do they have anyway. Their version of the Patriot Act? Anybody could become a suicide Bomber. Our own children born and raised in America will bring a gun to school and kill other students and themselves. Yes countries with less freedoms have less crime, but how much of your freedom would you trade to be safer?

4.  No, and that is a massive misunderstanding of freedom.
Too much freedom? What on earth is that? You do realize that Freedom is a concept, not a thing right? Too much freedom is pure rhetorical horse shit. Simply asking the question "Do we have too much freedom" creates a deeply dishonest frame.

6. Oklahoma City WAS "homegrown". Or are you talking about minorities and...
...not white boys?

I can imagine a few will pop up.

7. This is a bullshit post, _TJ_
oh-so-subtly fanning the flames of... A black teenager in Britain got an AXE in the back of his head yesterday, courtesy the centuries-long warped concept of "white privilege." Hate crimes in the U.K. are UP 500%. Iraqis are being MURDERED WHOLESALE daily in deference to this same concept. Mexicans are being shot at the border, but not Canadians. It's all about you overfeeding yourselves at the expense of anyone YOU consider non-white. But PLEASE DO CARRY ON.
