Iraqi forces infiltrated?
We know that the Iraqi forces trained by the US military have a high rate of desertion. My question is this: How many of those deserters are actually members of the insurgency, sent by their leaders to acquire training in counterinsurgency tactics at US taxpayer expense? How can our troops discern friend from foe? Could we be strengthening the insurgency even as we train Iraqi forces to take over?

3. Infiltration
Thanks.

Why is there so little discussion anywhere about this probability? From an insurgent's viewpoint, it's a no-brainer, and could be the single greatest factor dooming US efforts on the region.

5. Infilration may be the rule
"Penetration of Iraqi security and military forces may be the rule, not the exception," Anthony Cordesman, a military analyst at the Center for Security International Studies, said in a January report.

4. Who Are "The Insurgents"
We don't have any scorecard here. No one's wearing uniforms, there's no real organized party like an IRA or Viet Cong that is directly involved in confrontations. Sorry, Al Queda doesn't wash in this world as that name has been so abused to have little meaning other than "Islamic"; grouping different struggles and cultures in one big boogie man.

The game I've played with war supporters is to turn the tables. Whatif this country were deemed a threat to a larger power (let's say China) and we were to awake one day and see our cities and country occupied. How would one react? Would you fight? Would you cooperate?

Our soldiers are in a place they don't belong and are doing the bidding of those who only profit from the continued status quo. The real enemy this country needs to look at are inside the beltway...those who got us into this mess and are prolonging it.
