But as a youngster in Catholic school we were taught that the only time Jesus became violently angry was when he saw the money changers in front of the Temple. He threw over their tables and drove them away. Why? Not because they were money changers, but because they set themselves up in the auspices of the Temple of God and in doing so implied that they had the approval of God to do what they did.

Don't get King James or New King James. New International Verision is easier to read. If you want to study the Bible it's better to have a easy-to-read version. You will find that Jesus is on our side. The conservatives just hijacked Jesus.

I recently quit my church and became a non-church Christian because the more I go to the church the more I find that I am getting forced to follow the pastor's political ambition or economic greed than persuaded to follow the real Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was very dissatisfied with my pastor's sermon that I read the Bible myself and was stunned to find that these "corporate Christian" pastors rarely teach anything that Jesus taught in the Bible. Hebrew and Aramaic, as to the King James I have no problem with the language... and I actually like it... now the better of them actually in my view is the Jerusalem Bible, this is a translation done with experts from all three major faiths, and it is easy to read to boot

6. Read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John

Jesus totally hates the ancient-day John Ashcrofts, Jerry Falwells, Pat Robertsons, and Franklin Grahams. Jesus does not even teach His disciples to forgive these nasty hypocrites while He teachs us to forgive all other kinds of sinners. And Jesus's teaching is liberal in all aspects. The only conservative stance Jesus preaches is sexual morality, but then He teaches us to forgive sexual sinners. But no forgiveness to hypocrite pharisees.

The Gospel of Jesus is the liberals' best weapon against Christian conservatives because there are only three moral codes of GOP:

1. Oppose abortion
2. Hate homosexuals
3. Praise Jesus while rejecting His all other teachings.

Other than these three moral codes, most GOPers do not follow virtually any of Jesus's teachings.

It's not surprising that in a collection of writings spanning a thousand years, as long as it is, there are going to be passages to justify and condemn all sorts of behavior. Maybe there are universal standards of right and wrong that people can agree on without resorting to ancient "holy" books.

26. One of my favorite passages in the Bible

is the one, and I do believe these are the words of Jesus, which admonishes those who worship publically. He calls them hypocrites. They make a point to show how much "alms" they give and wail and flog themselves in front of on-lookers. Doesn't it sound like televangelizing? For that matter most Christian defy the teachings of Christ by going to special buildings built to show off how much will spend on a place to pray. Jesus said to go to your room behind a closed door and converse with God in your own way. It's one of the reason I quit the Catholic Church - too ostentatious.

at every turn. I left the church years ago due to the sexual abuse and the refusal of parishioners to admit their minister was an abuser. However, I am confident that I know more than 90% of members about the Bible as well as other sacred writing. We must use it!
Has anyone ever looked at the Jefferson Bible? Thomas Jefferson went through the Bible and cut out Jesus' words, pasted it all together and used it for a true guide to Christian behavior-- a great start.
