A BLUE/LIBERAL company. We just switched our service because Working Assets donates to ONLY LIBERAL organizations. LOOK at the list they donate to! It's a GREAT cause and their Long Distance service was CHEAPER! Think about it. Put your money in BLUE companies. Here's a list of Organizations they donate to:

Here's the Long Distance provider page. All you have to do is tell them you wish to change, give your name, address and phone number and THEY do all the work for you. It couldn't be any easier to switch and by switching, look at all the organizations you can help! :) AS A BONUS!!!! 12 pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream! YUM! :7

2. I've had it for years and years
If you don't make many calls, they bill only every other month. Do they still send Ben & Jerry vouchers to new members?

3. Working Assets has cellular service too
I've had their LD for about 4 years - and love them. If no LD calls, no bill.

I've had their cellular service for 2 years now, and so far it's been great. The phone was FREE if I signed a one year contract.

You can also enable web based billing, and use it to check your cell minutes throughout the month.

They'll give you B&J coupons for signing up - and also if you refer friends and family who join.

6. and they also have florist deliveries! 'Flowers for Change'
Now you can buy sustainably grown flowers and support organizations such as Oxfam America and Rainforest Action Network with a 2% donation of each purchase. We have partnered with Organic Bouquet to meet gift giving needs.

5. I used to go that route.
But, after a few years, I realized that I could much cheaper service elsewhere, and donate the difference on my own, and that meant I increased my donation money multifold. Working Assets started out as a great idea. Alas, it's no longer an efficient way to promote progressive causes with one's money.

7. For my usage, their prices are well within range of others
but I agree with you point that it might be inefficient.

Also, they charge extras for joining "cause" or action letters.

I found that a bit annoying - and asked that they refrain from adding me to any future letters.

So far, they've honored my request.

13. Thank you!
I got one of their offers in the mail Friday and was not sure of they were worth a LD switch. It certainly looked like a great cause on paper, but reading other customer experiences helped me decide to go for it. How can I pass up free Ben and Jerry's ice cream, anyway :-)

Thanks again :-)

Love it!
They also have a deal where if you refer a friend, then you and the friend get to talk to each other free (for a year, I think - check out their website.)
Love the free Ben & Jerry's!

25. same here
House phone is for local calls only.
Cell is for LD.

I really wish I could support "blue only" companies all the time.
I try my best, but right now we do whatever is cheapest.
Can't afford any other way.

21. I received an offer from them for their credit card
Anyone here with experience of their credit cards? I'm considering their offer to transfer my balance on my other card to them. Curious about that, though.

I'll also look into their LD phone thing. I recently got a "deal" with SBC (before we found out they were Red) that locks us into a two-year committment for our wireless connection services thru them. I'm gonna call SBC and see how this "deal" we got effects our possibly changing our LD provider.

Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 12:38 PM by Fescue4u
Well paying for long distance that is.

I havent paid for a long distance call in about a year thanks to voip providers, cell phones etc.

(not that these folks have a bad idea, its just that their business model needs to be revamped)
