Bush's arrogance and stupidity in "annointing" Bolton is mind-boggling!
Bush actually had the nerve to say, when he made his "earth-shattering" :sarcasm: announcement to day about Bolton..."His mission is to help the UN to reform itself!"....The absolute gall of the man!...He sends as his ambassador, a person who has no respect for or belief in the United Nations and then instructs him to go there and force changes on them that will meet with his approval! UNBELIEVABLE ARROGANCE!

2. No, sorry, Bolton is the topper for me....
because at least Roberts can only screw up the U.S. some more (if that's possible) but Bolton will do everything he can to screw up the world, through the U.N.

8. It's all part of Bush's usual pattern
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 01:54 PM by Rob H.
He announces a plan or takes an action that he knows will have the exact opposite effect people are told it will have. The Clear Skies Initiative (aka "Those big polluters will police themselves, honest!") and the Healthy Forest Initiative (aka "We must destroy the trees in order to save them") spring to mind.

In this particular case, who better to represent the United States as its ambassador to the UN than an arrogant, petty, abusive asshole who hates the UN and everything it stands for? :sarcasm:

Edited to add: it's also part of Bush's M.O. to act as if he should get his way every single time, consequences be damned. Someone should dish out a smackdown to him and remind him that he isn't the king, despite what he seems to think. *sigh* I guess I can dream someone will, at least.

9. I agree...
Unbelievable arrogance, but what is worse? A population/base of supporters who love everything he does? I fear the millions of people who love/support this moron, cause a good number of them live in my county...
