1. i have been thinking about this
the other candidates have done so also. when kerry came, they went to some war veterans centers. but clark has media attention now so i'm sure if he came it would be reported more. gray davis is a vietnam vet also who served in combat. i wonder why he doesn't play it up more. but it can only be a good thing if clark campaigned with him. it certainly can't be a bad thing. and if as a result of clark coming here the recalld osen't go through or another democrat becomes governor, i would view it as a positive thing. i would n'tthink he "Saved the world", but i would give him credit.

2. I just want to say that it would be a powerful statement if Clark went to
CA and said that he thought it was tasteless that Arnold Schwarzennegger profitted from the Humvee--that it's sick to take what went on in the Gulf War and to try to turn it into some marketing thing -- that it undermines what America is trying to do internationally when war gets turned into a thing to scare people into buying a big, gas-guzzling (which is another contradiction) weapon of war because they think they're somehow safer in the American jungle, or desert or whatever.

I'm sure that sentiment could be turned into something that would really hurt arnold's BS.

3. Why Clark?
Dean and Kerry and Leiberman have all been out campaigning with Davis, and I am sure some of the other candidates have as well. So have Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

Why in the world would anyone single out Clark to credit if Davis survives?

4. See option two. Arnold pretends he's down with the HumVee. Clark IS down..
...with the HumVee.

Arnold made millions hawking HumVees as a result of the Gulf War. Although I know Republicans go to war to make millions for their cronies, I just think Clark could go to CA and slap down Arnold's image in a way none of the other candidates can by pointing out the difference between profitting from war and being a Republican, and actually fighting in a war.

5. If Clark helped Davis...
it would be impossible for Arnold to either bitch slap him like he did Huffington or make a flippant remark. Arnold would be forced to ignore anything Clark says in support of Davis or risk looking unpatriotic. I hope Clark does it.

6. I really think it would be a genius move, and might be the major reason he
got into the presidential race (consider the timing).

I think we'll see him out in CA a great deal just before Oct 7.

I'm glad Clark is doing what Dean and others did weeks ago. I don't see how any major Dem candidate can go out there and stump without lending Davis a hand.

11. Notice how he's going to Arnold's territory -- Southern CA
They sent the others to Northern CA, a Dem stronghold, to get out the vote.

I predict that Clark is going to spend a few days getting his moderate bona fides in order, and solidifying himself as an authority on war. Perhaps, we'll even see some file photos of him in and near HumVees.

Then we're going to see him go to Southern CA, and kick some Arnold ass.

He is going to shame Arnold.

I hope they organize this right, 'cause it could be powerful.

And if you like Dean, or anyone else, I just hope you sit back and let it happen, and enjoy it. I'm not so worried about people calling Clark a moderate, and talking about his service, 'cause I think that's going to help him terminate the terminator. But I just hope that we can all appreiciate what Clark is capable of doing to Arnold, and we do everything in our power to encourage it. Like, if you're in S.Cal, go to these events a chear your asses off. Write letters to the papers, and call into the radio stations and point out that Clark probably knows way more about HumVees than Arnold. (Clearly, the message needs some refining, but you all get the picture, right?)

13. Clark drives a Mazda
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 04:31 PM by eleny
So, this whole Humvee things is choice.

After Clark's town hall meeting in New Hampshire the other day, when C-Span's cameras were still rolling, you could hear someone ask Clark what car he drove. He said he drove a Mazda and didn't see the need for an SUV. I'm pretty sure I heard him say he liked the gas mileage with the Mazda.

14. See, that's the sort of thing which will hurt Arnold.
There's a place for war, and there's a place for consumption, and it's weird to combine the two. Clark believes the HumVee's place is in war...

I'm not doing a good job with this idea, but I know that it could turn out to be a powerful indictment of Arnold.

15. are you aware that all of our candidates have campaigned for
Gray Davis? even the candidate you say you support--John Edwards? That ever since these candidates began camapaigning with Davis that Davis' numbers have gotten better. It is doubtful that these candidate appearances with Davis are the actual reason he is coming on strong. The actual reason is that compared with the fools running on ballot two--Davis is looking better all the time.

17. Everyone else went to N.Cal to get out the Democratic vote. Clark is going
to Southern Cal to take Arnold head on.

Now that Arnold's in the lead, this is important. Also, it's not enough to just praise Davis, because that hurts Bustamante. And praising Bustamante hurst Davis.

Now it's time to put the hurt on Arnold, and, although I don't like the idea of Clark at the top of the ticket in 2004, I think he can put the hurt on Arnold like no other candidate.

Arnold has a fake military persona built not only on his movies, but on the Gulf War and the Hummer. Clark can easily dismantle this persona.

If Arnold created his persona by playing doctors, then I'd say Dean could do the dismantling ("I'm a real doctor. I've never played one on TV"). If he did it by playing lawyers in John Grisham novel-movies, Edwards would be the man.

Do you see how Clark is the one to undo the Arnold persona?

19. By the way, I only support one candidate.
I state my honest observations about all of them, however.
