Just saw a pic of Jean Schmidt: DOUBLE YIKES!
Normally I don't judge much on appearance, but that lady looks like a vampire in dire need of a "bite to eat."

VERY SCARY.

1. Who is Jean Schmidt, and why is it appropriate to judge her by her
looks?

16. But not a very nice one.
I think you can judge some people by their looks, sometimes, and it has nothing to do with physical attractiveness. Some people you can tell just have nothing inside.

how she is wearing a button of a marine and Hackett is a marine running against her! :eyes: And she supports the troops more then a marine himself? LOL.

8. We just have a large dif. of opinion, Tyler.
No war here.

If there was television in the early 20th century, this country would never have elected FDR. A man in a wheelchair?! *gasp*

25. Hearst hated FDR and wanted to discredit him wherever he could
Hearst was a nasty, nasty man who controlled a lot of newspapers.

13. Thanks for that post
Schmidt is a contemptible human being.

Unfortunately, people find that to be an excuse for pushing the meme that women ought to look a certain way, and if they don't, they are somehow defective - or fit for "slopping pigs."

People sometimes forget that insults like that don't only affect the intended target - the effects ripple through society. I'm pretty average looking, for example. Comments like this make ME think "I have some good ideas, but I don't want to run for office because I don't want people standing around mocking me because they don't like my chin, or my hair, or the size of my behind while I'm getting into a car."

With an OP like that, you aren't affecting Schmidt personally; she'll probably never read that post. What you're really accomplishing is chipping away at the confidence of other women who DO read your post.

If you're looking to discourage women in general from running for office, this is a good way to do it.

15. And today even David Broder caught himself, when talking about Rice
He used the word "attractive" and managed to say "figure" or some such innocuous word, rather than "woman." Unfortunately I don't remember the context of the comment. He was on Bob Edwards as he is every Monday. Said he'd never seen the Washington Post do such a puff piece on . . . damn, can't even remember that! Something like, he'd never seen the Washington Post do such a puff piece on a member of such a conservative administration. (Nah... I'm sure I'm misremembering.)

Chip, chip, chip away. Seems there will always be someone (and this isn't pointed at Tyler) who just can't stand for women to be in positions of power and influence.

11. I rather say "YIKES" about her statement on TV
not sure what show but when asked about the Iraq war and WMDs she said that "Saddam himself claimed to have WMDs and wouldn't let the inspectors in."

Lets hate her for her ignorance, not her looks.

19. She is ugly inside and out
I've heard her speak and DOUBLE YIKES is right. Her appearance seems to be a reflection of her spirit; tightly drawn, tense, hidebound and with little in the way of eyebrows.

20. I'll show you what's really scary...
No, not this:

which is Jean after a session with a print stylist. She looks like a reasonably attractive late-middle-age woman.

This:

is Jean Schmidt's position on "the issues." Extreme hardline Republican all the way.

23. Jean Schmidt
I saw her on TV the other day. She looks like she fell asleep in the tanning booth for about a week.
You could make a purse out of her face.
Yuck!
