...is such a rare commodity that when one is given a show on said liberal radio, he or she is inherently shouldering a big responsibility.

Sorry, but Jerry Springer doesn't live up to that responsibility, and I often wonder whether Franken does either.

and yes, it's all good -- I wouldn't support replacing Springer with Hannity or anything, obviously. But we have so many good, eloquent, strong liberals out there that I can't for the life of me figure out why Springer is the one who gets the bullhorn.

IMO, even the show they replaced -- the one with Rachel, Lizz and Chuck D (if he wasn't up too late the previous night partying) -- was clearly better than Springer.

There is no harm in scrutinizing your side, to the contrary. When I dial into OxyMoron or Hannity I only expect Nazi gibberish -- but as a liberal I have every right to expect more and better from the only station out there that represents and airs views like mine.

I got satellite and have hardly ever turned it off AAR. Do I agree with them all the time? Nope. Do I give a shit? NO! In my entire life here I have never heard anything that ever even came close to agreeing with me on the radio. I am thrilled.

Everyone has a right to complain though but it seems unbelievable to me. My husband and I took a trip to the NE last October. We never found AAR on the dial but we also never lacked for a station with a liberal slant. I think sometimes people do not know what a god send some of this is for those of us out in the boonie red state areas.

I don't agree with a lot of what Randi says, or Malloy, or Sam Seder. But I have never complained about them in general -- I'll take an issue with this or that argument, but I do think that they are valuable assets who have more than earned their place in the AAR lineup.

Springer, on the other hand, is 1) An extremely weak debater, regardless of whether or not one agrees with a particular argument. Regurgitating 3rd-grade tautologies such as "war is bad (m'kay?), nobody likes war" does not well represent the liberal side of any debate; and 2) The dude simply is not well informed. He does not read blogs and basically gets his news from the MSM -- for example, I seem to remember that it took him forever to get with the program on the DSM.

I discovered AAR streaming when I got broadband about a year ago. I've been so grateful to have it during the election debacle and all the subsequent scandals. Whenever anybody posts predictions of its imminent demise, I get worried.

That's one of the problems -- that the liberal half of the country assumes that the media by default belongs to the other side, and whatever meager crumbs we get are then "a gift".

No, I think that we DESERVE and are ENTITLED TO having our views equally represented in the media outlets, and since AAR is one of the few we have, it's only up to us to hold their feet to the fire. They are, after all, a lone voice holding the liberal torch.
