"The hungry season"

Anderson Cooper is doing a show about the famine in Niger.

Every year between when the crops are planted and the harvest is 'the hungry season.' This year the crops didn't come up.

I can't imagine what it would be like to face a 'hungry season' every year. I can't imagine what it must be to be a parent who sends their child to bed every night - hungry. I am so blessed to be born in North America.

The worst part is that most famines in the world are created or made worse by man. Nature is harsh but man is evil and corrupt.
