My Republican friend from Utah can't stand bush...he is a conservative

mormon who would argue with me tooth and nail during the campaign...now he sees the light it all happened during the rice conformation hearing when Barbra Boxer grilled rice. He couldn't believe his party was giving her hard time for doing her job. Anyone else have a friend who finally saw bush and republican party for what they are.

1. Do you think this will change his vote?

I'm genuinely curious. For all the tales of republican disappointment in the current administration's incompetence and/or corruption, so few end with a conclusive "Joe Blow says he's going to vote Democratic in 2006." Sometimes they say they'll not vote, or vote for a 3rd party, but I wonder how much that will be colored by wishful thinking, media saturation, and peer pressure.

Die hard pukes in their 70s. What pushed them over the line was chimpy's ignorance regarding stem cell research. These people have a son with MS and a DIL with leukemia.

4. Yup, my brother now says he is "independant"

I'm inclined to buy him "It's My Party Too" by Christie Whitman b/c I kind of feel bad for him. But liberals are capable of empathy, sometimes too much. He prattled on before the election about godless democrats blah blah. Like he goes to church or is spiritual in any way! It was all Faux News talking points I'd hear out of his mouth. Now that he is in Maine for the summer and only reads newspapers, he gets more moderate and sensible. I have no doubt he'll vote Repuke again, b/c it is like rooting for your alma mater's football team even though they stink-it is hard to not wave that banner. He doesn't like the war and he doesn't support the pro production pro pollution energy policy. However, he's a follower basically.
