Bolton is an abusive person.
I have listened to the media tippy-toe all around it and try to find words like blunt...rough...outspoken, but it still comes down to the fact that Bolton abuses people and power. That seems to be a continuing theme for the Bush administration.

1. Two reasons why:
1. He is.
2. He's been allowed to get away with it without consequences.

2. yeah he's a wimp and he likes to abuse his authority because he
can against others who are beneath him. He's a coward and an abuser. Those are the worst kinds of people. He's also an ideologue. The bottom line with this guy is he's not good for America, our reputation and he's not the best person for the job. You would have never seen guys like Bill Clinton or George H.W. Bush appoint a clown like this to U.N. Ambassador. For all of Bush Sr's faults, he wasn't an embarassment to our country and he wasn't a nutcase. His son, on the otherhand, is so clueless and dangerous that we have to deal with probably the most incompetent group of political appointees ever. Just look at the Bush cabinet. There's a stellar list of success and brainpower there. You're right, Bolton fits the mold to a T.

junior did not learn to be a nutcake because he picked it up on his own ... junior is acting out a lot of his poppy's below the surface rage ... and not for one minute think that poppy was any better than his son ... he wasn't and he isn't. he has placed in his son's cabinet all of the other nutcakes who can carry out poppy's revenge on the u.s.a and the world for his 1992 election defeat to bill clinton. not once has poppy stood up to his son. not once has he publicly said that he disagrees with what his son is doing or how he is running the country...and, always his public statement is a whinning theme on how people don't understand the rough job that has befallen his son to do ... well, today, i received this in an e-mail and whether this is true or not, i don't know...
but this is what it says,

and if what it says is true poppy knows about it and poppy stands idly by and lets it all play out...

"Subject: US plans unprovoked , large-scale nuclear attack on Iran

In Washington it is hardly a secret that the same people in and around the administration who brought you Iraq are preparing to do the same for Iran. The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States. Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing-that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack-but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections."

the above quote comes from
http://www.amconmag.com/2005_08_01/article3.html

poppy is like the rat behind the walls ... he didn't have the cojones to do all of this publicly. his son does. poppy raised him that way and junior is doing it all for him.

and now please forgive my rant but please don't let any bush pull any wool over your eyes... you must be, "the quintesennial Gambini", as Vinny, in MY COUSIN VINNY, happens to be.

9. we're all entitled to rant
from time to time. Oh, no Bush pulls anything over my eyes, but Poppy wouldn't go out and do some of the stuff this clown does. Bush Sr, is a rat no doubt, but he was a rat who wasn't altogether nuts. His son is a dangerous fool. Although, I don't think Bush Sr, really raised his son to do anything. If anything, they have a really weird relationship, the son has never been able to live up to the father, as a student, as a man, as an athlete, a pilot, except the only thing he has over his dad is a second term. I think the son has done everything he can to separate himself from his father, and outdo him. That's one reason why he outcrazies all the crazies. It's also another reason why he has sold out to everything and whored himself to the Christian Right. He's more like his mother than anybody.

11. thanks for giving me leave to rant ...
i appreciate the leave to rant ...

so i hope you will forgive me if i take it out a little more to the one point that pops out for me from this post, that is that junior has done nothing to separate himself from his poppy. as long as junior depends on poppy's former cabinet and friends to be his cabinet and friends he will have done nothing to separate from his father..(but junior may not know this--and as you well say in his mind he may think that all this craziness is a separation from his father).

he will be separate from his father when he can name his own cabinet, make his own friends, and have and act on his own ideas ... imagine that even karl rove is a hand me down from his father to junior...so even for his brain junior is dependent upon his father.

the bush family seems to be one of those family masses with no independent "I's in the family mass.

13. where he has separated himself
is from guys like Brent Scowcroft or Jim Baker. He still uses Baker for certain things, though. What he has done is take the most far out guys like Cheney and pretty much been handled by them. The more moderate types from Bush Sr's group of advisors have no welcome or part in Junior's cabinet. You would never even conceive of Junior raising taxes under any circumstances like his father did. Nor could you conceive of Poppy being so dumb as to try to institute democracy by gun in Iraq. He had his shot at it when he was president and he declined, on the advice of Scowcroft, Baker and the more "realist"types. Cheney wanted to keep going on to Baghdad then. Just like he advocated to the sun. There are differences, they aren't a monolith, but, you're right, they aren't exactly independent either.

4. Bolton is an abusive person .....
however, it may be more important to focus on his potentially criminal behaviors as the reason that he can not represent most Americans at the UN. The fact that he represents hostile people isn't as important as that he represents the interests of criminals.

7. yeah, I'd say you have that right
This guy's pushing WMD stuff has been dubious and that is just one place to start too. It's almost missing the point that this guy has the personality of a turd, because there are specific wrongdoings that he has done. Repubs did a good job framing the debate to make it about his personality, because it really isn't about that. He's incompetent at best, maybe even a criminal.

12. There are reasons why I think that Bolton will fail in his mission
to subdue the UN. One - he is facing 119 others, many trained in diplomacy. Two - he is entering the UN at a time the US is not living up to their committment to the UN. Three - he is facing a UN united against the US. And four - he doesn't have the social skills or brain power to realize that he will be marginalized. Five - the rest of the UN realize that the US is at the end of our only world power stance.

I predict that this is going to be the most frustrating period of Bully Boy's life.
