Kansas City Star headline today: "Bush puts Bolton in his UN job."

His UN job? When was it "his" UN job? This wording makes it sound like Bolton had the job--it was his all along--and Bush was merely "putting" him in there. I saw a copy of the paper in a newspaper stand (one of those devices where you insert coins and the front lifts up--I forgot what you call them), so I didn't read the article, but wonder how much detail the article goes into about Bolton's shady past, Senate confirmation, and the need for this recess appointment.

Any other bizarre headlines like this one today?

2. Maybe "his" refers to Bush

As in he filled Bush's UN position.
Then again, I may be wrong. Is the Star part of the Mighty Wurlitzer?

I believe so. I remember soon after the (s)election, the Star ran the headline "President makes history." I thought "what did the little scamp do now?" I stopped and read what I could (the paper was in a newstand--or whatever that box-like device is called) and the article was about Bush going to Peru.

Apparently, Bush was the first American president to visit Peru, so "President makes history." :shrug:
