Some direction please...

I'm rather new here and am really fed up with the status quo on what we do with sex offenders. There comes a time when as a society we have to put an end to children being exploited and murdered by pedophiles. I love how when I read some of the threads at DU, there are petitions and letters that can be sent automatically for issues that are near and dear & it literally can move mountains (at least that's the hope). Maybe this has come up and there are some proactive measures that are in place & I'm just not aware of where to look here. We can talk and talk about coming up with new approaches for our party to win the next election, when all we have to do is embrace issues like this. There is not one parent in this country who is not disgusted by the ease in which predators are allowed to repeat their crimes and how children are defenseless and so many end up murdered. Any comments and suggestions would be welcome. TIA

There have been a few websites enumerating sex offenders who held public office at one time or are holding public office now.
