Republicans I think are going to be the victims of cognitive dissonance. The GOP rhetoric is still that Bush is great, and any republican that has started to doubt it is more likely to be in too confused a state to come up with a strategy like that.

I'd be interested to see if there's any anti-Bush posts at Free Republic, and how it's received, though I find that site too hard to navigate for me to bother going over there and checking out.

There's a core group of "Bushbots" who are mostly sex-deprived grannies who drool over *'s photos every day and project their romantic fantasies on him.

There are some hard-core politicos who support him because he's not a Democrat and because of his hardball policies.

There are some libertarians and paleo-cons who oppose Bushco's imperialism and big government.

There are some former Bush supporters who have been around FR for a long time and who actually are talking about the crimes and the flaws of the administration. They're mad.

And a lot of freepers left the site when it started censoring heavily. It really is a shadow of its former self.

I would be most pleased to see the remnant of the moderate republican faction switch to the democratic party. Of course, that would move the party to the center, further from me, but it would also isolate the so-called Republicans (who insult the heritage of Lincoln, Roosevelt, Hoover and Eisenhower by using the name) in their little ghetto. Perhaps someday we could see two or more real parties in this country.
