Never looked at Paul Hackett this way. Check this out:
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 07:00 PM by BigBearJohn
However this turns out today, Hackett’s campaign has given 2006 Democrats an effective blueprint–anti-war, anti-corruption, anti-stupid; pro individual freedom, pro shared responsibility, pro smart, strong defense; and maybe most important, strong netroots support ( the DCCC didn’t even know this race was going on until the blogs got excited about it ). If Hackett comes within five points of Schmidt, it’s a proven blueprint. If he wins in the OH-2, it’s the Holy Grail.

on edit, one more quote:

"If he does well, even if he loses, that could indicate that President Bush's foreign policy may not be playing that well in a Republican district," said John Green, director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute for Applied Politics at the University of Akron.

5. YES!
I'm sick and tired of Dems trying to "win" by posing as Republican-Lite!

ITS TIME TO FIGHT BACK and Hackett is showing the DLC how its done. Take back the battle -- proudly define WHY we are Democrats and take it to the trenches!

8. Pro-Smart

I will never understand why Dems don't assault Shrub's intelligence, at the very least regarding the decisions he makes. It's a ripe area, to say the least.

9. I think so too
I believe by 2008 if we're still in Iraq more and more people will be tired of it. We'll also be wanting to do this type of blue-print as well. If Hillary runs and she runs republican-lite she doesn't have a chance. Even if Kerry wasn't proven to be the winner and he runs again if he comes out even stronger heck even he could maybe be the person again. But I think this platform and this strong stance Hackett has done and his talk is great and we need more like him.

16. I've even heard this play on the msm
Msnbc or cnn analysts were talking about this race and saying that even *if* Hackett were to loose, but made a strong showing, it would repudiate chimp's foreign policy:)

That being said, WIN THIS THING, PAUL HACKETT!!!!

17. Liberal/Democratic values are not that different from...
mainstream values or normal Republican values. There are some differences of course, but the basic values; family, personal liberties, freedom of speech, the right to privacy, a voice in the democratic process, a strong defense, safety, the "American Dream" of a promising future for themselves and their children and their children's children, clean air and water, and security in their golden years are values that most Americans share. Actually Liberals in many ways come closer to these values than others. Liberals/Progressives should be proud of their values and spout them at the top of their lungs! It's this radical wing - the nitwit and his malicious troop - that have convinced the Liberals that there is something wrong with their belief system. It's the name, not the values that people are embarrassed to embrace.
We all need to be more like Hackett. We have nothing to be ashamed about.
