This speaks volumes of the anomie, disinterest, uninspired politics-something , anything. The Political system in USA is broke. Sure some people are apathetica but a larger portion know that the body politic, whatever their stripe, does not serve the interests of 'the people', not to romanticize that notion either.

we'd never have another republican elected, certainly nationally

that's what they fear most: people coming to the polls
