Need Help w/Neocon Coworker re: UN Control of the Internet

He forwarded me an article w/quotes from Norm Coleman expressing opposition to the idea. I'm thinking that international control rather than U.S. can only be a good thing, but don't know enough about the subject to effectively argue the point. Can anyone tell me why UN control would be better than US control?

1. Sounds like a nonsense proposal.

I don't believe this is seriously being considered. Frankly, right now we have corporate control over the internet and not much of that. I am a lot more comfortable with the Scotus enforcing the 1st Amend. rather than the U.N. trying to find concensus among members who largely do not believe in free speech.

I don't know why you need one organization to control the internet, I don't think it's possile, and if it were possible I don't think it would be a good thing.

in an argument with a kool-aid drinker no more than you can expect rational thought processes in trying to deal with a totally irrational person.
