His military background and good speaking skills would work better on a more national than a local scene.
Hopefully, Paul has learned a lot from this race...as have the people closest to him...and to start working on the next election.
I don't see Hackett as a good governor candidate due to his lack of legislative experience. The best governors are like a CEO...know the government and the players inside and out. That takes years and having a lot of people owe you a lot of favors.
From all I see and read, whomever is the next Governor the state, they face a real rough road. Taft and his corrupt hacks remind me of the GOOP here in Illinois (George Ryan) about 10 years ago...they were in solid control of the state government until their egos and corruption blew the party apart. The problem is our governor was stuck with such a bad financial situation that he's had to make cuts and move money around (some will say for his own political purposes) that has pissed off a lot of his supporters. I'd hate to see Hackett, with little experience, forced into that kind of a nutcracker.
Instead, I'd rather hear him on the Senate Floor or touring the country...helping other candidates...something I think that is very doable if the strong support for him that showed up in Ohio-2 was allowed to do its thing statewide.
Cheers...
