NEW YORK - Time to face the facts: Dave Chappelle's hit Comedy Central series isn't coming back, says one of its stars. "`Chappelle's Show' is over, man. Done," comic Charlie Murphy told TV Guide. "It took me a long time to be able to say those words, but I can say it pretty easy now, because it's the truth."

...they said, a few months ago, that they had about 2/3rds of Season 3 Done and "in the Can."

It's hard to believe they would just sit on that much material.

21. Yes, but did you see what a Mega-bomb "Stealth" was at the Box Office?

Sound like they made the right choice with that one. They do that all the time, they delayed a bunch of movies that would have been "very inappropriate" if they had released in September/October 2001 because of their subject matter.

But this is different, This, I'm sure is very high quality Comedy.

This is coming from Charlie Murphy (not calling him a liar, just sayin')- I really want to hear it from Chappelle himself. Besides, isn't he going to be in a world of hurt if he renegs on the $50 million contract??

I too would like to hear it from Dave, but if this is his decision I still respect it. It takes a lot of guts when you're a comedian as groundbreaking as he to walk away like that over the quality of your work (or your assessment that it's not there anymore). I'm sure he has his reasons, and I'm sure he's got plenty of money. He also has a loving family and fans that will probably support him if he decides to do something else so I doubt he's sweating the money too much.

was good at holding their end of the bargain.

I don't recall the month, but do a search on Time magazine--Dave Chappelle. He gave them a pretty detailed interview after all the bad press was released of him 'walking off the show.'

Based on what I read, it didn't seem he was in a great position on that show. They didn't respect him, his artistic vision, etc.

..he's probably doing much better not having to deal with them.

At least he has more time for his family now, which was one of the reasons why initially he didn't want to sign up for the show again. Among other reasons as stated in the article.
