Remember, the smearing of Durbin is still unresolved
It hasn't been in the headlines, but it's still out there.

How to reconcile all the concern about the WMD leaks, compared to the apparent total lack of concern by the White House about the Wilson leak?

http://www.thehill.com/news/072303/leak.aspx

According to Durbin, an unnamed staffer in the White House press office told reporters that some senators were disturbed by his public statement blaming White House staffers for not removing the claim despite warnings from the CIA. He said that the “White House press operation started floating the story that there were senators … who were asking for my removal from the Senate Intelligence Committee because the statements that I made.”

But Durbin said that he never disclosed the name of a White House staffer who was involved in the preparation of Bush’s speech and that he doesn’t know of any senators who want him to be removed from the panel.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) appeared to support Durbin’s claim. He told reporters yesterday that “no one has come to me as majority leader asking that he be removed.

1. Oh, great
They put lies into the State of the Union address and then try to blame a Dem senator. No shame, no shame.

3. great recall... the timing was during the attempts to discredit Wilson
now the silence... interesting. Shows what a diversion is always was. BUT... the gopers do one thing consisitently - will bring back bogus charges when convenient. So when Durbin is up for reelection... suddenly the unfounded, dropped charges will be brought up and treated as fact just because they were made once.

5. I think Durbin made that connection
and I think there were other incidents that fit the same Nixonian pattern, no big mystery which individual this all flows from...

10. My Senator Durbin
was one of the first to call for an investigation into the outing of Plame, that is what brought on the threats.

11. My senator!
One of the finest, most thoroughly DECENT AND HONEST people in Washington! He has forgotten more about truth, honor and decency than any of the Repugnicrats will EVER know!
