America's Being Prepped For Lowered Expectations & Disaster
I was just reading the thread about the two ex-military assholes on MSGOP (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4252241) - (BTW, they're ex-military. Apparently, they're both still assholes) and how we need to "accept" double-digit deaths of military personnel on a given day.

I guess Nam-like death levels are in the offing.

Yesterday, I heard Chimpy tell the astronauts that he's proud of them "taking risks."

I guess there's a good chance they won't make it back alive after all.

We have a SCOTUS nominee who would probably get laughed out of a first-year Harvard law class.

I guess America no longer desires to have the brightest and the best in the most-important positions of public service.

We have the fairy tale brigade busy with their little ID=science fantasy.

Why learn anything at all about reality when the tooth fairy holds the answer to everything?

A short 5 years ago, Americans *aspired* to being better: a better country, a better world and a better self. Now, we're hunkered down in a defeatist mind set that sees everyone and everything that is at all different from us as *the enemy.* And worst of all, this mind set is being fomented and encouraged by bushco, who would like nothing more than for all of us to collectively bend over and say, "thank you, sir...may I have another?"

Bushco's negativity is a heavy, heavy counterweight to the excitement and hope that OVER HALF THE COUNTRY feels about DSM, Rovegate and all of the other scandals finally bringing down this cabal and ending our national (and international!) nightmare. We best find a way to counter their spin or the country will elect to go along on bushco's headlong ride into the toilet.

1. This how bad it is
The citizens who are not blind look for hope in scandal.

7. Well, that's not new.
IIRC, Watergate caused a backlash in congressional elections, and the Contract on America crew fell apart mainly due to scandal surrounding Newt.

Democrats win when the corruption at the heart of the right is exposed. Then, sadly, people forget (or are too young to remember) and the right manages to put on some more makeup and cheat its way back into power.

Now if Dems could get in and, after their victory instead of resting on their newfound laurels, continue to expose more and more of that corruption (and behave themselves in the meantime) maybe we as a country and society could get somehere. I'm not holding my breath though -- doomed to repeat history and such.

2. From your post:
"BTW, they're ex-military. Apparently, they're both still assholes"

Careful how you word things--this appears to imply you feel that people in the military tend to be assholes. I spent 15 years in, and don't consider myself to be one, and I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt that this is not what you meant.

5. Yes, I meant that they were ex-military but not ex-assholes.
My phrasing had the two adjectives together and I didn't want there to be a misunderstanding that I thought all military people were assholes.

Who knows? These two gems may have become assholes after they left the military. So, while they're ex-military, they're not ex-assholes.

6. The "ex" was the variable here
"Still" assholes versus "ex" assholes. Nothing to do with the military....as I read it....

3. "laughed out of a first-year Harvard law class"
Are we so desparate that we resort to the right wing tactic of outright lying about someone?

Surely, you know where this guy went to school where he graduated etc etc.

11. It's inevitable.
Lay back and enjoy Armageddon! Roast a marshmallow on yer burning tummy! You have nothing to fear. Bushler is happy for Americans to die for IT's cause. Be a "patriot" and die willingly with no complaints.

Good Bushler x-tians will always OBEY!

MIHOP is not necessarily inevitable.

14. Hope Springs Eternal!!!
I agree, MIHOP II (or is it V, counting The Maine, Pearl Harbor, Tonkin... there are many others, actually) is not necessarily inevitable.. I was being sarcastic. ;)

I am counting on an internal war to take place, which is probably in motion at this moment. :scared:

10. Funny you should post this.....
I've been thinking the last few days that the Democrats need to start
running specifically on the agenda of NOT accepting lowered expectations,
of daring to hope again that things can get better in this country.

12. That was always Westmoreland's line,
may he rot in hell. Pretty soon they really be lying about the casualties and enemy dead if they stay true to form. Every ex-military officer is a prick, and liar. That's how they made up as far as they did.
