Medal of Freedom Winners Who Should Have Stayed Retired

Three presidential Medal of Freedom winners who should have quit when they were ahead are Cap Weinberger, Donald Rumsfeld and Colin Powell.

Powell will be remembered for his disgraceful U.N. speech which showed him to be a complete liar or a complete fool. Rumsfeld, who had a distinguished career until the invasion of Iraq, will be remembered as a failed leader. Cap Weinberger, at one time a dedicated public servant, ended up the recipient of a controversial Iran-Contra pardon.

It's unlikely that Rumsfeld will be frog-marched out of the White House, but there's no question that without a presidential pardon, Cap Weinberger might have ended up in prison stripes. Alas, poor Colin Powell. Everyone agrees he should have stayed home, like his wife - the sensible Alma - told him to do.
