We cannot give in
I have been seeing posts in relation to the recall in California of people stating that they are going to either give up in the face of the GOP takeover or, even worse, flee the state for another.

I look at all those posts, and I cannot say that I feel anything but disgust when I see them. While yes, I have said that I cannot leave because I lack the means to do so, I also mentioned that I am not leaving this state and I am not giving up because I believe that it is the right thing to do to stay and fight on!

If we give up in the face of Arnold's potential victory on October 7th, then we will be sending a message not just to the Republican Party but to the entire body politic that we will not stand up to the GOP but simply turn the other cheek and surrender in the face of their onslaught. In case many of you forgot, THAT WAS THE BLOODY REASON WE LOST THE MID-TERMS IN 2002!!!!!!!!!!!!! We FAILED that year because many people wanted to vote for a real Republican rather than one who happens to have a D after his name because Democrats were too damn busy kissing up to the GOP and Bush for people to see a difference between the two parties. Mary Landrieu won her race for the Senate in Lousiana because she OPPOSED Bush, not because she gave in to him! We have to FIGHT this undemocratic effort with all our strength, courage, and vigor even if it seems like we will lose. If we fail to act at all, then it will show to the entire country that we do not deserve to win in 2004 because we couldn't even take a stand for the government of California!

We cannot give in to the GOP, not here, not anywhere. Even if they win, by their actions they have shown that no move is too low for them to use, no law beyond their grasp to be used and abused. The recall provision was created with the intention of eliminating politicians that are corrupt in some way. Simply by HOW Arnold is getting into office shows his rank stench. We can prepare to take him down as soon as he slips just a little bit. We have to show no mercy to the GOP, here or anywhere in the world. We have to fight them anyway we can. Who cares if the media ignores us? It is a far better thing to fight and die standing up for what you believe in than to live kneeling at the feet of your new master as a coward, a slave.

Did the Founding Fathers kneel to Britain? No I say, they did not! Who in the world would have though that a collection of diverse and disunited colonies with only farmers and merchants as their soldiers would have held the line against, nay beaten the mightiest empire on the planet? Who would think that we would be able to beat Arnold? Not many, but this is a fight that we MUST fight. Even if we fail, it is better to have stood and fallen than it would be to never have stood at all.

3. Never give up!!!
I don't care if the polls show ahnold with a 70% lead. It wouldn't mean we were beaten and should give up. It would menat that we have to fight harder and do more and struggle to the fullest everywhere to open eyes and show the RW idiots for what they are. Never give up!

See if something that is NOT a flame can get up to the top of GD for once! We have to remember WHY we are here, and it is NOT to tear down eachother's candidates!

5. A CA voter
No matter who wins. We need to change the recall rule so that the Lt. Governor becomes governor on a recall. They would never have started this if Bustamante had been the automatic replacement.

We lived through one big, dumb actor for governor. We'll do it again.

Let's recall the bum as soon as he slips! Show him that he cannot be given the governor's mansion on a silver platter! No mercy!
