To sum up:

They enjoyed seeing as much as they could of the Northeast.

Their friends in Spain wondered why they came here (short answer: to see us). The U.S.is being eliminated as a tourist destination if
their friends are any barometer. There is such a degree of disapproval of our government policies that people questioned their coming here, suggesting it was tacit support for policies they (both friends and visitors) disapprove of.

They see Bush as a complete fool, but say that Aznar (former Spanish president) was almost as bad. Judging from their examples, sounds about right, down to the inability to speak their language properly.

They are worried about our kids (possible future draft).

We're very close, so it was good to have them here for a good chunk of time.

And despite their political beliefs, they were really interested in seeing America, and they had a great time.
