Man Accused Of Tossing Son's Puppy Off 5th Floor Balcony

POSTED: 6:58 am EDT August 2, 2005

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- A man was arrested on charges of killing his son's 2-month-old black Labrador puppy by throwing it five stories to the ground after it urinated and defecated inside their apartment.

Josper Sanon, 49, took the dog and flung it 25 feet through the air off their fifth-floor balcony, the arrest warrant said.

A police officer found Sanon's 16-year-old son Steve screaming and crying in the parking lot of their apartment.

I'm not a violent man by nature, but if I were to stand face to face with this person I'd send him straight to hell without a moment's hesitation. He simply deserves to die a painful death.

There are some really strange and scary people living in this world.
I mean, Labrador puppies are even so cute.

13. True, Lab pups are cute as can be.
If he hadn't of tossed that pup twenty five feet
he could have claimed the dog fell straight down off the
window ledge. He definitely over aced this one.

33. It's horrible
They are cute dogs and totally harmless I think. My cousin when I was younger had one of those dogs and the dog was so friendly with us and my grandparents. My grandparents kept the dog one time and I never heard them complain and they really liked the dog.

Next time it could be his son. The man has serious anger issues.

Killing him would be a bit extreme, though.

Regardless of your desire to read nothing that isn't warm and fuzzy.

The more stories of animal abuse that can be brought to the public's attention, the more valuable discussions can be had about how our society treats animals.

47. I've read that the subconscious message being sent when an abusive
parent hurts their child's animal is that the parent has power of life or death. The family often wonders if they'll be next, it's a part of the cycle of emotional violence and control.

Often this is a precursor to actual violence against the family.

45. If he'll do it to a puppy, he'd damn sure do it to a kid.
This is EXACTLY the reason why we need to take animal abuse more seriously. Ultimately it comes down to dominance over some being which cannot fight back.

50. That can be true in many cases.
Even if it doesn't escalate to physical violence (which it often does) against the family, it's still a sign of an unhealthy mental environment that the child is living in.

Give the guy about a year in one of those lovely Florida jails then ten years community service cleaning no-kill kennels. With his tongue.

20. Good idea, but should this guy really be allowed
around animals, especially dogs and cats? Maybe he should clean other enclosures...lions, tigers, gorillas, bears, snakes.

I suspect the general population in jail does not look fondly on someone who is there for killing a puppy so the community service point may be moot.

39. I'm with you joby
I don't think he should be thrown off a fifth floor balcony.

But I do think if he treats animals like this, someone needs to look into how he treats his kids. That is horribly traumatic for the son, I'm sure.

And I'll cop to feeling the urge to want to punch the guy in the face pretty hard. But not throw him off a balcony.

48. That was my first post on the subject upthread
That CPS needed to investigate his treatment of his son.

The image of a sixteen year old teenager being so upset that he breaks down in tears over the dead puppy is really disturbing to me, and does hint at other problems. It doesn't make me want to do violence to the father, though, as much as take care of the kid.

I wonder about the father. Is he a bad person? Is he a good person under a lot of stress? Is there mental illness? Is this just some cultural thing, where the man doesn't know any better (redneck, in other words)?

Frankly, though I'm an animal lover (and vegetarian), I'm more horrified by what he did to his son. He should be charged and punished for what he did to the dog--mitigating circumstances being taken into account--but the greatest attention should be given to the son's well-being. I'm angered by the puppy's death, too, but it pales compared to the kid's emotional trauma. I can't imagine doing that to a child of mine, and I couldn't imagine being able to live with myself after I did.

58. Alright, know it all!
Try this. The man caught his wife cheating three weeks ago. Two nights later he watched his mother die in a car accident, and his father was paralyzed from the neck down trying to save her. The ass who caused the accident just filed suit for everything the man owns, and the man's lawyer agrees he might win. Knowing this, the hospital where his father is undergoing rehab has just called him and told him that they are evicting his father, and he must pick him up within half an hour. The man is in tears, is shaking with anger. His son is sitting on the couch crying. He walks out, trips over the puppy, goes into shock, and flings the first thing he can grab as hard as he can. It happens to be the poor dog, and the man collapses into a quivering, sobbing mess after he's done it.

Unless you know what happened, you don't know shit. You're taking the word of the same media that told you Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, Bush is a nice guy, and Gore was a serial liar.

I don't know, you don't know. Do you want the guy dead, on the word of the media? Good for you. You fit in well with the majority of Americans. If Bush had claimed Hussein was killing puppies, would you have approved of the invasion then.

Please yourself. That's more words than your response was worth.

In all seriousness, what kind of sick fucker does this? :grr: :nuke:

It would be hard for me to keep emotional control of myself if I were confronted with this situation as a police officer. It would be very tempting to apply a little vigilante justice to this man.

And if I were his neighbor and I knew that he had done this? Hmmm... I think he might mysteriously start having a string of very bad luck.

The saddest thing, unfortunately, is that he'll probably get off with a slap on the wrist (and that's if he gets prosecuted at all). Our courts rarely take this kind of thing seriously. It makes me really angry.
