Do you guys have any ideas or predictions as to how the balance of the Senate might be after 2006?

Do you think there is any chance that the Dems could lose even more seats or do we pretty much have everything to gain?

Thoughts?

2. It depends on where you live
Like the previous person said if you vote by machine good luck without a paper trail. If you don't vote by machine there could be a good chance if you're organized and get out the vote and convience people to vote democratic and actually vote in the midterms.

3. Call me naieve but I hope to hear "Senate Majority Leader Reid"
after the '06 elections. But in light of the BBV issues, I'm also hoping that the country is so uproariously anti-* by the time those elections roll around that there's no way Diebold can fix them. If *'s approval is at 30% and polls are showing that people are ready for a change (like in '94), then the public WON'T ACCEPT the phony results (even if Diebold and co. try to provide them).

13. Hopefully that's what Dean's doing behind the scenes
We have to be competitive (the way Hackett was) in ALL races, in ALL states. I think that's the best thing to come out of the Hackett race -- it's proof that we can compete ANYWHERE if we show up with a good candidate and don't concede one inch.

16. WE ARE the 50 state policy--not DEAN
It's US--the grassroots. And it starts locally and builds upon the groups Youve organized or you've joined. It begins with the local issues you, your friends, and your neighbors care about.

That's what the Democracy Cell Project is about. We had the 50 state plan before Dean did--but hey, we're willing to share it because we all work together!

We educate, empower, and activate.

Please join us there. Sign into the forum and get started...on your way to becoming a grassroots leader in your town USA!

14. Hopefully people will be so sick of Bush and the war in Iraq
that there will be no way we will lose the majority in 06. What worries me is the drive of the RW to infiltrate themselves into the churches/media and make people think that they are the "moral party" who is looking out for your safety from the terrorists. Lots of stupid people buy into that crap. Maybe they will think twice after losing their jobs, though.

can't stand the Crawford Caligulia. The Iraq quagmire will be obvious to even those not paying attention and economy will have fully augered in by then so they wouldn't have a chance, except for Diebold

7. I think the results of the Fitz GJ will play a BIG part!
It's very difficult to figure out just what he has right now, or WHO is going to be indited, but I'm sure there will be inditments!

There are already bad rumblings here in Ga. about Reed and his dealings with the Indian money. Santorum is agrivating many in Pa. DeLay isn't going to skate from his problems like an altar boy. Now there's problems circulating about Hastert and money from the Turks. These are just a few of the existing problems hanging out there, and I didn't even mention what might happen with the Plaame case.

In MOST cases, corruption kills a party in a second term, and in this case, since they also control both houses, and possible the SC, I think that is what's going to convince most people to elect Dems in future elections!

8. If they start pulling troops from Iraq next summer, we're fucked.
It will be sickening 'freedom is on the march' 24x7 feast on TV news & the repukes will be heralded as heros of democracy.

11. I think we'll gain 4+ seats in the Senate, only modest gains in the House
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 03:37 PM by dback
Thanks to redistricting, the hardcore Repubs have unfortunately locked up a lot of districts for themselves. (Look at Texas and Ohio for two examples.) It'd take a very, very serious meltdown for the people to take out their frustration on Bush and co. in those regions, so unless we have some juicy Enron tidbits (the major trials commence next spring) and/or Karl Rove goes down in the Valerie Plame scandal, some people will still be in the "but we have to support the president/defend marriage/etc." crouch. (Good God, we had an Iraq war vet running in Ohio--which just lost HOW MANY SOLDIERS this week?--but still people voted for the Republican woman on "social issues.")

However, I think we have a real shot at the Senate, especially depending on what's happening with the Supreme Court in the near future--folks will realize that the Senate is all that's standing between regular Americans and a theocracy.

12. It will be "close"........
but the repukes will "win". I don't see any chance for Democrats to regain control. The repukes will continue to steal elections because the American people refuse to see or believe what they are doing, and they will continue to accept these thieves "wins". It's like "ho-hum...life goes on".... :grr:
