Was Arkansas the test run for the California recall?
Early 1996-- Then Arkansas governor Jim Guy Tucker, a Democrat, is on Ken Starr's witch hunt list. It just so happens that the lieutenant governor at the time, Mike Huckabee, is a Republican. Starr is hounding Tucker for his alleged involvement in a $300,000 bank loan scandal involving Susan MacDougal and her flaky husband, James. According to a Salon article,

"(James McDougal) is the man who, after years of insisting, under oath, that he knew nothing of the meeting between Clinton and Hale, decided to change his story after he, Susan and former Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker were convicted in a related case -- a conviction resulting almost solely from Jim McDougal's own bizarre and contradictory testimony. Had Jim McDougal not taken the stand in that case (against the strenuous advice of his lawyers), he, Susan McDougal and Tucker would have been acquitted, according to jurors who were interviewed afterwards. Starr was aware of Jim McDougal's case-blowing potential even if the blood-sniffing hounds in the media were not."

Jim Guy Tucker is forced out of office in May 1996 based on "testimony" that is dubious at best, and is "conveniently" replaced by an air-headed Republican who has held the office since. In California, Repugs are trying to force out the legitimately-elected Davis and replace him with an air-head.

1. One day Ken Starr will wake up and realize
that he's been doing the devil's work. Good intentions and all that.

2. I don't believe that Starr ever had "good intentions"
He was an attack dog, nothing more.

Repukes sabotaged another Democratic governor. Gotta admit, that one was under my radar.

Whenever I think my opinion of the repukes can't get any lower, something like this is brought to my attention.
