LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has sharply rejected terrorist allegations Britain's U.S. alliance led to transit bombing attacks in London.


"The United States and its allies did not provoke the terrorists. The terrorists attacked America," he said.

Rumsfeld's comments at the World Affairs Council in Los Angeles followed a videotaped broadcast of Osama bin Laden's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who threatened more London attacks and assessed blame in the earlier incidents, the first of which claimed 52 lives along with the four bombers.
