Vega Elementary School officials said they spent more than a month looking for more than 100 missing files and the sensitive personal information contained in them. During that time, 35 files were found, McKinney school district spokesman Cody Cunningham said.
Stacey Granhold, another kindergarten mom, said the loss of documents and how it was handled has been "unnerving," especially because others could now know the names of people preapproved to pick up her 5-year-old daughter Madelyne from school.
Although the school requires identification before releasing children from campus, Ms. Granhold said over the last year she has seen school officials release children to people without verifying who they are.
