Easy military job?

Here's an easy military job, thinking up names for different military operations.

They are so predictible- active adjective combined with macho noun.

Today's is "Quick Strike". Are the names chosen by comittee, is thinking up these names a paid position, do they use random name generator? Military people (or not), what do you think?

1. I just wanted the Iraq invasion to be called --

Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL)

I mean, they got SO CLOSE with Operation Iraqi Freedom... hell, they probably even considered the other idea until they realized the acronym.

2. Quickstrike

is a name awarded to a type of sea mine in the early eighties. These guys are not even original.

4. Actually, the operations names are now generated in a computer...

No longer are names like Market Garden, Overlord, etc thought up by humans but now the names are generated in a random name program. They have a data base of several thousand names that sound forceful. ie: resolve, force, quick, response, shield, etc and from these words, combinations are spit out.
Some sound useful like quick-strike, but many are disregarded because of either double meanings, no meaning or inappropriate meanings.
So there you have it, our great military minds can no longer name operations because they can't think of any off the top of their head.
Kind of gives you an insight into why Iraq is so fucked up.
