It appears that Dean will not meet his $15,000,000 fundraising goal
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 07:42 PM by Loyal
and that is unfortunate, because I want all of our Democratic candidates to meet their fundraising goal. For the record, I haven't decided which candidate I want to support yet, so please don't turn this into a Dean bashing thread, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I did some quick math and I determined that for Dean to have $15,000,000 by midnight Tuesday, he would have to raise an average of about $49,000 every hour until Tuesday night. Unless a gigantic - and I do mean gigantic - flood of last-minute donations come pouring in on Tuesday, I don't think he will meet the goal. I predict that he will get around 14.3 million, but, hey, you never know. I hope he does meet his goal. :)

$5 mil in the last 10 days of September by changing the bats to $15 million for the quarter.

Nevertheless, I think they will end up at the top of the fundraising ladder.

And don't forget, we were tempted with a big "October surprise" a week or so ago. Can't wait to see what that will be!

edit: And BTW, there is a giant houseparty/conference call/fundraiser happening tomorrow night, so they may get a big bump from that.

9. they did not change the goal...
they had $10 million prior to the online fundraiser, so they just changed it to $15 million. The goal is still $5 million in 10 days.

4. The $15M is a quarter goal, not just an internet goal.
According to Trippi, the staff will be hard pressed to count all of the money that's come by snail mail before the deadline. $2.5M is not hard to believe in the next 2 days if you include that.

7. Let's get those contributions going! At this point even $15.00 would
cover a little postage or phone bills........!

11. they had raised $9.7 million prior to bringing out the bat
"One week ago, Howard Dean sent each of you an email and asked you to do whatever you could do to make this the September to Remember-- to give whatever amount you could afford to change the way politics is done in our country-- to put an end the politics of the past and the gotcha game of the Washington establishment.

On that day, we knew that you had already contributed an amazing $9.7 million for the quarter, and we asked you to do whatever you could to help make history by contributing an additional $5 million in ten days."

the current tally stands at $12.635 million meaning they've raised at least $2.96 million since brining out the bat.

"And because the money is coming in from everywhere-- not just over the net-- we're trying to get a handle on how much you have raised already. "
