Novak: "Hopefully This Will Finally Give CNN An Excuse To Dump Him"
As Inside Politics signed off and Wolf Blitzer Reports began, CNNers were already buzzing about Robert Novak. "What was wrong with him?" "What set him off?" A CNN insider says "even Wolf was curious."

"Hopefully this will finally give CNN an excuse to dump him from the network," the trusted staffer e-mailed this morning. "The fact is, he probably should have been canned a long time ago. It is a bit silly that for revealing the identity of a CIA agent, CNN does nothing to him...but for using a swear word, oh, THEN we suspend Novak (and most likely will get rid of him, as public pressure continually mounts)."

More: "The fact is, everyone around here knows that Novak has been nothing but a blight on this network for years, and especially since the Plame issue erupted. There are plenty of rational minded, decent conservatives out there that CNN could use in place of him..."

3. I Suspect They Have Been Looking For An Excuse. I Expect They Are

locked into some sort of contract. That is why I think the "suspended" him rather than firing him out right. They will never put him on air again. But, they will keep issuing checks.

At least this repug scum isn't getting paid American tax dollars like so many others!

5. I was thinking the same thing.
They're probably happy as hell he did it.

If it had been over plame I suspect there'd be some sort of legal brouhaha they don't want to get involved with. This is perfectly clear cut.

That said, fuck CNN.

I think so too. Now that he did that they can have his suspension go through his contract and can not re-do it. :D

7. I can just see the new Fox ad:
Join Fred Barnes and Robert Novak for their new show "The Conservative Butt-Buddy Hour." Fair and Balanced!

6. Ha ha!
What goes around comes around Novak! I think we'll probably be seeing the firing of Novak since people have been really complaining obviously. And yes it is ridiculous that CNN did nothing about the leaking of a CIA agent but do something when he says a naughty word on national tv. :eyes: Good grief. I also wonder why Novak popped. Is it all the pressure of trying to stay "innocent" in a case you know that isn't?

11. EMAIL I just got from CNN
"Thank you for your email to us concerning Bob Novak.

Mr. Novak's behavior on CNN during Thursday's broadcast of Inside Politics was inexcusable and unacceptable. Mr. Novak has apologized to CNN, and CNN apologizes to its viewers for his language and actions. CNN has asked Mr. Novak to take some time off."

At least they answered...

12. I Replied That "Take Some Time Off" Implied He'd Be Back.
I let them know in no uncertain terms that he should be "FIRED" and never return to their network (if they wanted a shred of credibility to remain).

13. To be honest, I kinda' figured the confrontation,...
,...was put into play for precisely that reason. After all, Novak's character and reputation has been spoiled by his own hand and he may be implicated in one of the most serious crimes committed against the American people in US History.

Who would want to keep THAT kind of person on board?
