NEW YORK (Reuters) - British lawmaker George Galloway, a frequent thorn in the side of Prime Minister Tony Blair, is writing a book about his high-profile appearance in the U.S. Senate in May attacking the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
Industry Web site Publishers Marketplace, which issues a closely watched daily report on U.S. book deals, said Galloway signed a "nice deal" -- the Web site's term for one worth between $1 and $49,000 -- with not-for-profit U.S. publisher The New Press.
Publishers Marketplace said the book, to be published in September, would be titled "Mr. Galloway Goes to Washington: The Brit Who Set Congress Straight about Iraq."
Galloway's agent, Ivan Mulcahy, told Reuters on Thursday the book would tell his story to an American readership "providing a context for his extraordinary and captivating appearance before the Senate, which is unnecessary for a UK readership."
Mulcahy gave no further details of the deal and the publisher was not immediately reachable for comment.
