Local NBC affiliate in DC polls Reagan legacy (Poll!)
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 04:22 PM by theHandpuppet
The poll is being conducted at http://www.nbc4.com/index.html

A group known as the "Ronald Reagan Legacy Foundation" is trying to have 12th St in DC renamed after Reagan.

This is a portion of their press release posted at the RRLF website at http://www.reaganlegacy.org/main.htm

4 August 2005
Ronald Reagan Blvd. Leads Straight to the White House

Congressman Bonilla (R-Texas) introduces bill that would honor Ronald Reagan in the District WASHINGTON, D.C.-In a fitting tribute to President Reagan, Congressman Bonilla recently introduced a bill that would rename 16th street NW, Ronald Reagan Boulevard. This dedication has the added benefit of not costing the city any additional fees. To avoid confusion for tourists, the bill only authorizes the legal reference to the street be Ronald Reagan Blvd. while also keeping 16th NW as its name. The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project (RRLP), a leading force in preserving the ideas of America’s 40th President, congratulates Congressman Bonilla and urges other members of Congress to cosponsor this important legislation. “The symbolism of Ronald Reagan Boulevard leading to the White House is quite powerful,” said Grover Norquist, Chairman of RRLP. “Ronald Reagan was the greatest President of the 20 th century and it’s only fitting that his name be on a street heading towards the White House.”

Ronald Reagan the greatest President of the 20th Century? What kind of drugs are these people on??!!!

Anyway, please vote in NBC4's online poll!

4. It costs big bucks too.
I know when they changed the name of the airport to honor Reagan, money was a big issue.
