I wanna kill kittens!
And Puppies and butterflies and houseflies and ants!

And Earthworms and Grubs and Millipedes!

And amoeba and lichen!

Get off your high fucking horse. Killing is killing. Just because you think it's a cute fuzzy being does not mean it is any more viable than any other form of life.

Welcome to the Buddha.

9. Yes, I did.
That's life and death. Is your (our) life that much more valuable than another's? What leads you to believe that?

15. The fact that
I can scrape lichen off a rock, boil it and drink it, and it can't write nasty books about me. Meaning, in short, complexity of self-awareness.

can comprehend. Does that mean that there is no life there?

25. There was a thread about these family stickers
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 05:16 PM by Debi
and I guess fundies are placing them on their SUVs to show they have 'family values' - so I copied them with my cynical quote. All it takes to have a 'family' is to tell the world you have one....now I'm perfect with a perfect family.

Please don't make me look for the thread - I think it was in the Lounge and it was earlier today....

Here it is:

26. Actually it is pertinent. If someone stepped on a slug, it is just as
great a tragedy.

All life is sacred. The wanton destruction of any life is a tragedy. A kitten, a soldier, a puppy or a fly.

peace.

36. I don't kill ants or flys or spiders.
I always take them outside - I have never swatted a fly or smooshed a spider in my life.

Don't be so sure everyone is a hypocrite and "only" cares about "cute" animals. I try and respect ALL life, especially the smallest life forms among us (and think I do a pretty good job).

35. And I have shoes made of leather....
I don't like it, but that's the cost of living in this society. I could easily lie, but I can't afford the diet I would prefer. I'm a mix of carnivore and herbivore. There's a lot of tweaking that could/should be going on in my diet and life.

When you don't have to kill what you eat up close and personal, it's easy to order a whopper.

28. centipede
I spared a centipede the other day in the bathtub because he was little. If he was big he would have scared me too much and I would have killed him.

33. "I don't care whether it has a life or not."
Whoa, that's callous, even if it is a bug.

I'm not crazy about insects, bugs & crawly things, but we have a 'catch & release' program in our house. A small cup accompanied with a postcard makes a great 'bug cup.' The little creature is relocated outside & there is no grossness to clean up after wards.

17. I had a friend in college who wouldn't eat anything cute
She wouldn't eat lamb or rabbit or deer or duck, but she was fine with pigs and horses and chickens.

A vegetarian friend said, "So you'll eat anything with a face as long as it's not cute, right?"
