New Newsweek poll - 42% Approval/ 51% Disapproval
Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 10:19 AM by Pirate Smile
Negative trend. Reported on MSNBC right now.

Iraq - 34% Approve/ 61% Disapprove

edit to add - I don't see it up on the website yet.

Lowest approval #'s for Iraq since the War started - first time it is under 40%

WOT/Homeland Security - 51% approval but 64% do NOT think Iraq has made us safer.

1. Shitty war has shitty poll numbers. Does shitty president care?
Nope. He makes a virtue out of dragging the US into a war it never wanted for reasons that weren't true and then staying no matter how badly it's going.

It's called "resolve" when he does it, sociopathy if we do it.

4. Nope. Raw, brute power is all that counts, and being president is enough
with a laydown congress, AWOL media, and layers and layers of secrecy so we dont' know what is actually happening.

He wouldn't do a thing differently with 1% approval, because he just plain despises you and me and is going to do what he wants ESPECIALLY if people hate it.

That's called "resolve" when he does it, sociopathy if you or I did it.

5. So this agrees with the
AP poll from this week.
Wonder if there was a 'trust' question in there that they aren't talking about on tv. That's the one that he couldn't get back and would begin to infiltrate everything he tries.

6. Newsweek Poll
These numbers certainly don't surprise me at all. 19 marines from my area just came back in body bags. Anyone know what the general approval rating is for Bush right now? I thought I read recently that Clinton's was 20 points higher when he was impeached than Bush's is currently. I'd also like to add that I am so impressed with this and other blogsites that do not allow vultures to descend on new contributors. I just posted a couple of comments on shotinthedark because the host, Mitch Berg, is very smart, brings up a variety of subjects, and is somewhat moderate in his comments. Other posters left me with some deep wounds. Ouch!

21. Here it is:

Newsweek Poll: Bush’s Battle

More Americans are questioning U.S. strategy in Iraq.

Newsweek
Updated: 12:13 p.m. ET Aug. 6, 2005
Aug. 6, 2005 - As U.S. troops endured a deadly week in Iraq, 61 percent of Americans polled say they disapprove of the way President George W. Bush is handling the war in Iraq, according to a new NEWSWEEK poll. Thirty four percent say they approve. This is Bush’s lowest rating on Iraq and the first time it has dropped below 40 percent in the NEWSWEEK poll. And 50 percent of those polled say the United States is losing ground in its efforts to establish security and democracy in Iraq; just 40 percent say the U.S. is making progress there.

A NEWSWEEK poll taken one month ago showed that 41 percent of Americans approved of Bush’s handling of Iraq; 54 percent did not.

While 26 percent of those polled say they support keeping large numbers of U.S. military personnel in Iraq for as long as it takes to achieve U.S. goals there, 38 percent say they would support keeping troops there less than a year, 13 percent say one to two years and 12 percent volunteered that troops should be brought home now.

Meanwhile, Bush’s approval ratings have dropped to 42 percent; 51 percent of Americans say they disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president. Bush’s approval ratings reached a high of 88 percent in his first term, in the month after the September 11 attacks. Forty-two percent is his low.

8. Did they use "negative trend" in their report?
Maybe the tide is turning.

The chimpling is going to fall off the wagon again if he gets wind of these numbers.

as soon as pollingreport.com has it up, you'll be able to tell. The article does not mention it.

As more and more of truth comes out, it will continue to fall. The truth is all we need. Of course if the lapdog media can find a way to cover the truth, that's another story....

16. It's online now
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8849936/site/newsweek/

And when asked about the reports that White House adviser Karl Rove may have leaked classified information about Valerie Plame, a CIA agent, 45 percent say, from what they’ve heard or read about Rove’s involvement in the case, that they believe he is guilty of a serious crime; 18 percent say he is not guilty of a serious offense and 37 percent say they don’t know, the poll shows.
