SS warns local residents: Do not look at Bush
Bush gave a speech for a conservative group on his way to his vacation. This is how the D-minus Augustus must be treated by the plebians and slaves.

From the Daily Texan:

GRAPEVINE - Roads were shut down Wednesday and residents living in nearby apartments between Dooley and Ruth Wall Roads were warned not to look out of their windows Wednesday. School busses from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD formed a perimeter around the site where President George W. Bush was scheduled to land. No one was going to get a glance of the president on his way to the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center.

113. In pre-WWII Japan, commoners were not allowed to look at the Emperor
Hirohito -- in fact, they were not even allowed to look at a PICTURE of the Emperor.

Bu$h sure has delusions of grandeur. Just like Hirohito did. And Bu$h's wars of aggression are shaping up to be just as successful as Hirohito's were...

Leaders with delusions of grandeur bring defeat & disaster.

119. the difference being, Hirohito wanted to be out of "the bubble"
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 04:37 AM by Lisa
When he was younger, he had been allowed to visit Europe as part of his education, and got to go on the Paris Metro. Being crowded together with all the other passengers (most of whom had no idea who he was) -- of course his security people were frantic, but Hirohito loved it. Being away from his controllers in the Imperial Household was a dream come true.

After he died, they found the tattered stub of his Metro ticket amongst his personal effects. He'd cherished it as a reminder of one of the few "normal" days he'd experienced.

Bush, on the other hand, doesn't like having to talk to real people (like Cindy Sheehan and the other Gold Star Mothers). He's built himself a tiny perfect world inside his bubble, and he never wants to come out.

96. Hey, Saddam used to do that!!!!
He of the well-endowed BVD's (not a flight suit, mind you) was famous for lying to the people, raping the coffers of his nation, screwing the population by refusing to allocate his ill gotten gains to medical and infrastructure matters, and causing untold suffering, starting horseshit wars (the Iran Iraq War was devastating to both sides)...and using KIDS (remember GW1? He used BRIT kids!!!) as human shields!!!

Anyone else see a pattern developing? We'll know for sure if Jenna and Barb are put in charge of the US Olympic team and Homeland Security, respectively!!!

Furthermore, it is odd that the bushtapo claims "America is safer" because of the shrubs policy on one hand.

Butt, we are spending many many many times more money on security and taking more precautions at the same time.

I would think that true safety would = less security spending and less precautions. Not more.

9. Same Thing In Morgantown, West Virginia
Two friends of my son (and now grown men who I have known since their childhoods) have an apartment along the route Bush took on the day he spoke at West Virginia University last month. They were approached by the Secrete Service (presumably) and told not to be in front of the building or looking out the window when the motorcade passed by. The consequences for failure to comply, as far as I could tell, were unstated but probably even more severe than the imagination permits one to expect.

I know very childish and dangerous, but I would have had to look out the window, just because they told me not to. What would happen if you were out on the sidewalk with a protest sign when the king of America drove by? Would the SS arrest you? Probably after beating you senseless. But I would have still looked out the window, just couldn't help myself.

118. Probably to stop the protestors.
He is at 38% approval concerning the Iraq war right now, and 55% disaprove of his presidency. Furthermore, a majority of Americans feel he lied about Iraq, and believe his administration is dishonest.

If people were allowed to protest in the streets, then these numbers might snowball a bit as those who question is ability to lead would realize that they had lots of local support.

They do not want the media to show masses of people protesting his dumb ass wherever he goes.

A Retrospective: President Bush in Mainz, Germany - Where were all the Germans? - Jens - @ 10:08:03
Two and a half week ago US president George W. Bush visited the German town of Mainz on his tour to Europe and Russia. He met with the German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder as well as other federal and state representatives. The general media-reception was positive on the political side. Most German and international papers I read commented on Bush's tour as starting signal to an improving European-US (German-US) relationship. Some of the US journalists however wondered how authentic the image of Mainz they got to see really was. Images of Anti-War and Anti-Bush protests from all over Europe were still vivid in the minds of both journalists and politicians. To prevent any security risk and (maybe the more realistic risk) diplomatic risk, security regulations in and around Mainz were really tough. More than 14,000 policemen from all over Germany were on duty to prevent any harm or protest to come to the president of the US. According to a German journalist who travelled with the official white-house journalist group all the way from Frankfurt airport to Mainz was deserted which rightfully alienated American journalists. More policemen than civilians could be seen on the blocked roads. Signs with protest notes were as absent as cheering crowds.

Several blocked highways as well as the blocked airspace left the whole Rhein-Main area (Mainz, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt) in chaos and brought the regional economy to a one-day halt. Tight security related regulations in Mainz as well as the massive police force did the rest to keep public expectations mellow. A friend of mine who had to stay several hours longer at work because he basically couldn't get home due to the roadblocks expressed a common thought: "Why is it that the president needs an army to protect him when he believes that he's doing the right thing in the right way?" I still can remember that president Clinton went to a Berlin bar with chancellor Schroeder and joined in a jam session. Even after 9-11 I find it hard to justify the big difference in security measures.

40. Think back to Clinton.
Republicans in the media and elsewhere complained of "paranoia" and "bunker mentality" when Pennsylvania Avenue was closed.

First Bush closes the White House (formerly known as the people's house)to the public. Now Americans are not even allowed to look at the President. What next?

59. But seriously...
I really would like to know if anyone has a clue why they're doing this. Is it considered a safety issue? And if so, how would looking out the window make any difference? I would think if someone wanted to lob a missle or something they could do it from a location where they're unobserved. (Grassy knoll, maybe?? :eyes: )

If you have a picture window in your living room, would you be permitted to stand 8 or 10 feet back and look? Must you have your drapes closed? That would make it easier, actually, as you could peer thru the crack where the drapes meet.

What difference does it make? He travels in an armored limo. Are they afraid of the evil eye? Jeebus! I feel like I'm in the Matrix or something.

Either he's batshit crazy or he really is a reptile!

We'll have to wait and see if there are any pictures released. If pictures are taken at the event then I would guess that this is nothing more than a dictator's paranoia that would make Saddam jealous.

100. That's because it isn't actually Bush
Your modern dictator always has some body doubles. Saddam had them. Why not Bush? Do a little casting call, a nice Bushian haircut, some makeup, maybe even some plastic surgery...presto! Instant pseudodictator.

The problem is that it's very hard to get someone to look EXACTLY like Bush. You've got to get the mannerisms right too, and the guy they found doesn't smirk uncontrollably like Bush does.

So on the off chance that there's a LIBERAL in the area who'd notice that the pseudo-Bush doesn't act quite like the real one, they've got to cordon off the area for three miles in all directions.

... Surely even this bunch wouldn't force someone to have plastic surgery, just to resemble *. Any normal human being would suffer an immediate nervous breakdown, after looking in the mirror and realizing that the likeness was permanent.

This being a capitalist society, there actually are people nutty enough to pay to see someone pretending to be * -- and a guy who'd submit to hours of having latex glued to his face.
