Many workers with wrenches in their hands today.... have to....

Understand how to run computer programs.

Download flash files and burn them into machine ECM's with a laptop.

Know how to use a laptop to troubleshoot virtually all problems on today's equipment.

Individual diesel injectors now come with a DVD which contains a "trim" file that has to be loaded through a laptop, into the ECM which then loads the file into the INJECTOR.

Many workers today who have wrenches in their hands are dealing with technology that was used to put men on the moon.

I think John can drop the "untrained" part and stick to what he knows, which is probably less than the average "wrench".

4. Some of the smartest people I know

work as handymen. They like the independence. They don't want a boss. They have to understand how to deal with chemicals safely, how to choose equipment and make many decisions that require at least some basic sense of science. There aren't many jobs today in which you can you get by without much education or technical knowledge. Everything demands education -- except maybe fast food service, certain kitchen and maintenance work, driving a bus or truck . . . . The old mechanical, repetitive factory or mining jobs are gone.

5. I guess that makes me unskilled, too

even though I own my own business, do my own sales calls, deal with the final customer, maintenance my own equipment, deal with endless government regulations, run computer programs, do data entry on a daily basis.

Don't these arrogant bastards realize that without the people that REALLY make things work that they would start to starve in a week? Have no water to drink? Fuel for their vehicles or heat for their homes? Do they ever wonder who makes the sewer system keep working?

Without the people with wrenches in their hands and the skill, knowledge, and basic understanding of mathematics, engineering and physics concepts our so-called modern existence would grind to a screeching halt in short order.


Does this "skilled" person who blabs for a living know enough to keep his fat mouth shut to keep himself from sounding retarded? Well,.........no.


OBTW, if you are any good at diagnosing diesel injector problems, you are more of an artist than mechanic. I salute you.
