How to make bumperstickers?

I have used double-sided tape to stick laser printed pieces of paper on my car before. I also tried using the sheet sized label paper, but that was a pain when I wanted to remove it. Do you have any thoughts on a better technique?

1. Buy magnet material and cut it out to the size of the sticker,

put the sticker onto the magnet, and just stick the magnet onto the bumper.

That way, if you really need to, you can remove the bumper stickers to avoid vandalism.

4. For inkjet only?

So far it looks like I would need an inkjet printer, as opposed to a laser printer. Do you know if that is true.

6. It doesn't matter.

Just print out the sticker/label as usual, and stick it to the non-magnetic side of the magnet. Cut around the sticker/label, stick it to your bumper, and you have ourself a magnetic bumper sticker. :)

7. Staples and Office Max

Both sell a variety of magnetic and sticky type paper designed to make bumper stickers. The quality varies - and the color doesn't necessarily last really well since printer ink isn't really designed to be exposed to the weather. My experience last fall is that the best paper for print had the least strongest magnet (I think it came from Office Max, but it has been too long to recall for sure). I also used a fixative (you can get some from craft stores) to try to make the print job last longer.

You can also buy sheets of magnetic paper at craft stores (Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics both carry it). I used it to turn professionally printed bumper stickers into bumper magnets.

8. One thing that I've found effective is using stickers and magnets.

Get those sheets of magnets that you can print on (right next to the computer photo paper and labels at your local store) and print your saying right on there. Or, another method, print on sheet-sized stickers, cut them to whatever size you like, and stick them to a magnet (same sheets as in the first suggestion). I usually follow up by lightly spraying the result with a sealer in order to slow down the rain damage.

I've got a bunch of magnets that I interchange depending on how I feel that day or what has made headlines in the SCLM. It's effective! The only difficulty is on really hot days (nearly every day here in Texas!) the magnets start to curl slightly. Thicker magnets would be better. I'm still looking for those, though.

Even when I see a bumper sticker that I especially like and subsequently buy, I put it on a magnet. Works great.

10. To make your ink-jet painted stickers last longer, do this:

Buy some clear-coat enamel spray (i.e. Rustoleum) and give them a light coat. Let dry about three hours, and give another light coat. This will keep them from running when they get wet.
