As I sit here and reflect the questions Cindy Sheehan wants to ask President Bush - I ponder whether or not he will or just give her the same canned message on staying the course - honouring those fallen by finishing the mission - blah, blah, blah.
But I can't help wondering about this guy. He is the most powerful man on the planet - and yet he does not demand an honest accounting of how they got it so tragically WRONG on the Iraq intelligence. It does not matter to him that he was lied to - deliberately, repeatedly, incessantly. Well - if I were the president of the United States, and I was lied to, misled which in turn resulted in war - I would be more than livid. My anger would shake the very foundations of the White House itself. We don't see that from this guy. We continue to see - cheerleading. And so, it stands to reason that he cooked it all up - for reasons all his own.
Cindy Sheehan deserves to be answered. She deserves to know why her son had to die for something that still eludes us....the real reason the US invaded Iraq. I've thought about all the justifications we have heard about - control of oil, strategic middle eastern military bases, being a patsy for Israel, WMD, imminent threat, Saddam being a bad guy.....but the more I think about it - the more I believe it is more simple than that. Bush wants to go down in history. He wants to be written into the history books as a guy who fought wars for some sort of ideal. But, in reality - he cooked the reason for this grandiose illusion he holds about himself. That is why Cindy's son died. How many more???? How many before the anger that possesses Cindy overwhelms America as a whole???????????
