At his Crawford ranch Thursday, President Bush said the U.S. will ‘stay the course’ in Iraq, but demonstrators, including some mothers of soldiers killed in Iraq, would like to change his mind.

More than 30 family members of soldiers killed in Iraq plan to confront the president at his ranch. They say they will demand that he honor their loved ones by bringing home all of our troops immediately. Of course, the President will most likely never meet any of these families, but a supporter of the families says the message they have is what is most important about their demonstration.
An AP poll taken Monday through Wednesday this week indicates that just 38% of Americans approve of the president's handling of the war and its aftermath.

A year ago, the public was evenly divided on Iraq and the president's stance on the war and terrorism helped him to election victory.

Sheehan arrived in Crawford aboard a bus painted red, white and blue and emblazoned with the words, "Impeachment Tour." Sheehan, from Vacaville, Calif., had been attending a Veterans for Peace convention in Dallas.

Refused to shake opponents Ann Richards hand. It was a HUGH mistake and cost him not only the election but his reputation.

I'm willing to bet that there will be at least a few Texans for whom this lack of courtesy and chivalry towards a grieving mother will be that "last straw." There's no telling what will set some people off.

Also--from another string, one of our Houston DU'ers notified his stations and they covered it.
So...this was covered in Houston, Austin, Temple/Waco/Killeen.

Not sure about Dallas though.

21. Good deal. The Belo stations all share stories (economics) so I'll bet

KVUE will have it.

The true test will be to see if the FOX O&O in Dallas (FOX4) finally decides to run the story to be "competitive" with the other stations.

Good job on alerting the stations. Weekend assignment editors are always looking for stories to run. They're all second-string folks who want to shine, but have limited resources on the weekend. One of these younger people might just have had the idea from you telling them.
