Secret Service threatens Cindy after the media and police left.
This is the email Cindy sent out:

Hi Brian,

I have just had a very disturbing call from Cindy- there are ten people preparing to sleep out on the side of the road, the media and police have gone, SEVERAL secret service people have stopped by to give this message

"people drive very fast on this road, somebody could run over you and you could get killed"

Cindy was frightened by this message and asked me to ask you to post it. If this were not the government of Karl Rove you could take it lightly. But sadly, it is. I told Cindy to have people take turns keeping watch, I hope the Vets will go back to stand guard.

It is hard to believe we live in these times, hard to believe we are governed by such dangerous people, and for us at GSFP hard to comprehend why we are without our sons. Thank you to everyone for your amazing support today, plesae stay with us.

Sherwood was killed protecting the Iraq Survey Group as they looked for the non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction

22. SS taking cues from Freepers?
I've kept an eye on how the FreepTards are responding to this topic, and I noticed that one of them suggested just such a scenario earlier. Is the SS taking its cues from these morAns? Check it out (notice the time stamp says 08/06/2005 3:42:35 PM PDT):

They better watch where they march on those roads around Crawford. Trucks really zip along those roads and you never can tell what's on the road ahead when you go over a hill. Of course if a trucker knew that there were 70 antiwar protesters ahead.... (I drove to Crawford last time I was back home - definitely a very typical tiny Texas town).

81. *Kristinn* is one of the FR's head muckety mucks
Organizers or whatever for the DC chapter...

He and a fat ass woman screen named "angelfire" are the ones that put together the group that screamed "get out of Cheney's house" at Al Gore and family during the recounts.

I always got the impression trolling FR BTW that Kristinn was a log cabin Repuke.

All during the 2000 recounts screaming "Get out of cheney's house" morning noon and night through bullhorns.

The media made it appear to be concerned random US citizens upset with the process but it was really just freak republic members.

This was exactly what she wanted people to know. She wanted this out on the internets to keep all of them safe.

She knows just having this in the bloghosphere protects her from a nut or BushCO pulling a stunt.

We spoke additionally of further ideas to keep them safe. So let's keep things calm and trust that Anarchy is also checking on Cindy.

(I tried to edit that into the main post.)

9. Me too.
I will try to see if there are other ways to help in the meantime. (If I can get through.)

BUT for now we can do this:

1. Send more people to protect them.

2. Make it tent city! (I would be willing to join, but I can't therefore I'm stuck encouraging locals to please, please go.

3. TELL the world. Tell them Cindy's story. Make it THEIR story--the story of a mom's love and devotion and grief and ask them the eternal questions: "What would YOU do if this had been your kid?" AND "What would Jesus do?" (ok the WWJD is for the fundies and might be a low blow.)

4. Highway blog.

5. I know it washes away, BUT get some sidewalk chalk and mark the sidewalks EVERYWHERE you go! Get your kids involved.

6. Make or buy t'shirts supporting Cindy and if you sell them send a donation to them.

7. Ask a group of friends over to begin a community newspaper-then take the newpaper door to door and give it to people.

8. Have a sit-in or camp out locally in support of Cindy. Surround your local media outlet and do it for each day of Bush's vacation.

9. Come to the march in DC September 24th.

10. Have a candlelight vigil each night in your hometown and say prayers or sing anti-war songs for these people in Crawford.

like they do here when we have a stupid little event! AND why did they wait UNTIL everyone LEFT--including the media and the local police?

AND if that was their concern, then frankly, the police should be there protecting them.

WHY however did they decide to scare them off? Why didn't they just do the "RIGHT" thing and CALL the police and say, 'LOOK...I WANT THESE PEOPLE PROTECTED. I WANT TRAFFIC DIVERTED or I WANT PYLONS PUT AROUND THEM TO PROTECT THEM."

That is the RIGHT way a MORAL person would behave.

Anyone sleeping on the side of a road should take the proper precautions, the police nor any other government agency has any obligations to take those precautions for them.

The population of Crawford is around 700, so I don't think they have much of a police force anyways, if one at all. And the Secret Service's job is to protect the President, not political protesters on a roadside.

14. Is that really a threat from the Secret Service?
Or, more likely, a factual statement about Bush's driving? That was my first thought.

Interesting website. I think Cindy will be all right.

Its probably trivial of me, but one obviously city dwelling person is afraid they might be attacked by coyotes? Another one (whose car no doubt has very little paint left on it, numerous dings from rocks, and has probably gone in the ditch more than once due to loose gravel) drives 55-60 mph down a gravel road all the time? Where do these people come from?

21. I don't doubt that it instilled fear.
The Secret Service is an intimidating organization, to say the least. Like I said Bush driving was my first thought, but I suppose there is also the possibility of the twins.

I don't think the Secret Service is going to assassinate anyone with what would be considered limited suspects near the ranch and I am sure they already knew that people would be watching. I think they were more concerned about the disastrous PR aspects of a drunk or speeding car or now that I think of it, gravel kicked up by a speeding car, hitting them.

Coyotes avoid people (though here in Los Angeles they have lost much of their fear) and I cannot envision one attacking a person unless it had rabies.

55. Coyotes are no threat
I would be much, much more afraid of the feral hogs that roam the rural areas. I think, though, that the danger would be in coming up on one by surprise, I doubt they would approach a group of people. We used to get them at our place all the time, and they can do a lot of damage in a short period of time.

I just pray that Cindy and the rest stay safe. The Chickenhawk-in-Chief is probably too drunk to come out.

76. Of course they were real
The SS does Bush's bidding and has from the get-go. They keep protesters away from him, protect him from even SEEING them. They work thru (with) local law enforcement to abridge our free speech rights, not just when they insist on cordoning off protesters as much as a mile away from the site of a Bush appearance, but also by refusing to let little old men and women attend a public event like a baseball game armed with 8-1/2x11 sheets of protest signs. (Seriously, that happened in FL a couple of years ago, and the SS was blamed, along with the Tampa or was it St. Pete police?)

Oh, yes, the SS is definitely doing Bush's bidding.

I would like the people involved there to be aware that a lone FR nut pulling some type of crap would not be out of the question.

As brain washed naturally as the FR culture is, the SS or any Manchurian types are not needed, because some loony jack ass that wanted their five minutes of fame would be readily available of their own volition.

I am sure she is well protected and I admire her stance (tremendously) but my fear is that some idiot public person and not the SS would take a stand.

All those there need to be more wary of freeper types than they are of SS IMO

Besides documenting shenanigans--it can also deter thugs from engaging in illegal and threatening behavior--because they know that they're being taped.

48. At the risk of being flamed big time here,
I have a friend who works for the SS. He has for about 20 years and has been on the Presidential detail since the big dog.

He despises Bush. With all his heart and soul. He would NEVER threaten someone like Cindy Sheehan, but he is not at the ranch this week, he is on vacation.

Is it possible that they weren't threatening, but warning?

My friend states that he works for the President, as in the office, not the person.

Feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong.

She clearly felt they were attempting to intimidate them into leaving. They may be acting on someone elses orders.

I'm not going to flame you and I hope others don't. All of us understand the the SS are working for the president and take orders from someone else.

But as I said, Cindy very much felt they were trying to intimidate them into leaving but she remained resolved to stay.

I KNOW my friend wouldn't do that. He is very distressed at the fascist turn this country is taking and truly despises the policies of this administration.

I am certain that for everyone in the SS who doesn't like * there is an equal or greater number of those who do. And, even the ones like my friend take orders from someone else.

What a travesty. What a horrible nation we have become.

Intimidating a bereaved, yet determined mom is just beyond the pale. There is a special place in the circle of hell for such behavior.

Cindy Sheehan is a true American patriot. I am only sorry that she had to suffer so much in order to be heard by these fascist bastards.

70. Hey, welcome. She's not grandstanding. She deserves to have him answer!
This morning Cindy led dozens of protesters as close as they could get to the ranch; they were stopped by local police about five miles away. Cindy and others plan to stay there throughout Bush's five-week August vacation until he agrees to meet with her and other family members of soldiers killed in Iraq and answer their questions about the war.
I'm reposting this from another thread. Let others more experienced than me decide if you're not what you seem.

Throughout the afternoon and evening, however, the Secret Service has been telling protesters that if they stay there they may be hit by Secret Service vehicles. Cindy says, "They've told us this at least ten times. There isn't much room between the side of the road and the fence, and they go zooming by far over the speed limit." Cindy reports the Secret Service already ran a mother and her six year-old off the road. She believes the Secret Service's actions are a clear attempt to coerce her and the other protesters into leaving.

Cindy and others are asking to meet with the Secret Service and local police to ensure the safety of everyone involved. In the meantime, she asks that anyone who can contact the media to alert them to the situation.

If you are able to do this, media contact information can be found here. Please politely let them know what's been happening with the Secret Service, and encourage them to continue covering Cindy's efforts to meet with President Bush.

yes, the demonstrators deserve to be mowed down by speeding cars if the *moron falls off his bike or chokes on a pretzel'. In fact, they should be holding his hand so he can safely cross the street at all intersections too.
A shame they are not surrounding him and protecting all of us from his madness.

108. "I'm a Vet" isn't exactly what she would say I don't think
Her son WAS a vet. He died in *'s war that was based on lies and deceit. As a mother, I can't imagine what I would do if I were in Ms. Sheehan's place, but yes, I think she deserves answers more than other voting, tax paying American's. Especially more than the voting tax-paying Admerican's who voted for that POS. You call it "grandstanding" - I call it bringing necessary attention to something that * has been able to avoid, and that is the real toll on human beings. Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters.

The woman has COURAGE, but they say once you lose a child, you really have nothing left to fear - the worst has already happened. She is turning her personal tragedy into good by working to stop the insanity. I'm quite sure the SS can speed along the road to protect the pResident just fine, and that there are plenty of Ss at the ranch itself to "protect" the pResident from his pretzels and bike rides, and from the dangerous mother who would like a few words with him.

Obviously you are not a parent. To think that a mother grieving for her son is "grandstanding" is what I would call "absurd".

79. Sometimes it's precisely that type of "grandstanding" that makes
a difference:

THE MOST IMPORTANT ANTIWAR EVENT IN A GENERATION
For months now, we’ve been planning for the mass rally in Washington, DC on September 24th;

snip

But, as it turns out, one fearless and determined mother, along with a handful of vets, took a spontaneous action which, as it turns out, is probably going to be remembered as this generation’s watershed antiwar event. So simple, so seamless, so Cindy Sheehan.

102. I believe what Cindy is doing is very, very clear to members here.
And it is being supported and lauded on many threads. If i could make it to Crawford to support her AND demonstrate against this failure of a pResident, i would in a heartbeat. She has my gratitude and admiration for her courage to put herself in his destructive path. The most i could do at this point in time is to join in a hunger strike in solidarity for her actions.

On the other hand, it's even more clear that you've stepped into a large liberal and leftist website with nothing but piss and vinegar for a person who's at least got the moxie and determination to put her life on the line against what i and others see as an evil and mistaken failure in Iraq, brought on by an even eviler little man. You have chosen, it appears, to express your disdain for Cindy's actions by belittling her and the other demonstrator's activities by questioning whether they are placing the *moron in danger, as if with the SS protective services he could be in danger.

I'll take my chances with the Left, and with my influential discourse. I do not agree with, nor want to participate in your style of winning friends and influencing people. With that, you are on your own.
