though my understanding may be different from your intention. My interpretation was a section in DU wherein we can have actual useful discussion. Although it could have to do with literal age and/or length of time you have spent on DU.

If it's the first or second -- interesting concept and distinct possibility.

32. Rather than "elders" as time spent at DU
I would love a forum for people over the age of, say, 40? 50? There are many issues that affect us aging DUers (mainly, the possibility of starving in the streets without meds, health care, affordable housing, age discrimination, SS safety net, etc etc). Also, having the prospective from the Nixon-Vietnam-Civil Rights years gives us unique insights into today's Amurika. Would also be fun to chat with others our own age. Just sayin'

62. Maybe an enhanced ignore feature would be better.
I understand what you're saying (I think). It seems like there used to be 1 or 2 threads running in the GD at any point in time which were fascinating, sometimes passionately argued, but relavent and "deeper" in thought.

I think those threads still exist, but they get so quickly buried with the posts which are more of the venting emotion type of threads. So if I saw the same poster just venting over and over, I could put them on "ignore for a month" -- recognizing that people sometimes go through a phase of venting, or they start to participate in a different way and deserve an automatic out from the ignore list.

Come to think of it, maybe what we need is a forum just for venting (we all need it from time to time). Or maybe a forum for in-depth discussions, or research.

I know you're just being thoughtful, but, after caring for several very
elderly people throughout my life, it's a joy to "discuss" issues with youthful people. By the way, I'm ashamed to say this, but well, I'm
72 years old. Everyone on this forum has something important to say,
and it's a haven to me. Everyone at DU is so nice and tolerant to me.

A good forum for "elder folks" could
be the Meeting Room or you can write
to the Administrators and ask for a
special group.
