Who would you MOST like to see debate Bush*?
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 11:34 PM by eileen_d
I was going to make this a poll but darnit, I'm not a donor anymore. But I think it would be even more fun if we didn't limit it to the 10 Democratic candidates. Please respond with ANY human being you would like to see debate Shrub one-one-one, and DO feel free to elaborate with sample dialogue.

I'll start: having seen Angela Davis give a powerful speech at my college years ago, I would love to see her take on Shrub. He would sound like the "mwa-wa-mwa-wa" lady on Charlie Brown in comparison.

Edit: Of the ten candidates, it's a tough choice, and Sharpton would be fantastic - but if I actually pulled the strings, I'd say Dean.

1. Dream debate??? Without a doubt, Bill Clinton
Clinton would DESTROY him. As for the candidates, I think Edwards would do the best, while Dean or Clark would also do very well.

As you said, Clinton would destroy Bush completely. I'd like to see Wes Clark debate him, or Howard Dean.

I would love to have the devil debate bush. Of course it would have to be an election for ruler of hell. Bush would win of course being the more corrupt of the two.

18. Clark debating Bush's American Empire with Dimson....want to see!
Wesley Clark's new Book, "Waging Mordern Wars", just came out and is being hailed as a "Searing Critique" of Bush's American "Empire" foreign policy.

I want to see that foreign policy debate.

Since the Bush White House does not read FBI memos nor intelligence reports, the only way that they may read this book is to prepare for a debate.

Unfortunately, the Dimson will be debating the Author.......now that will be something to behold!

32. I'm waiting like a kid for Christmas for this one...
In one corner, a polished, articulate, warm, balanced, honorable, self-made man, and in the other corner we have a viscious, bumbling, nasty, addled, fake, propped-up child of privilege. I dream of this match-up, even though it would be a version of sadism against the sadistic.

Of current politicians, I'd like to see him take on Pete Stark, Jan Schakowsky, Hillary Clinton or, as you've pointed out, that national treasure Barney Frank.

13. Sharpton would leave him (more) tongue tied.
Sometime in mid-debate, and I'm not kidding here, Bush would start registering expressions on his face that nobody has ever seen before, that our language lacks words to describe.

It isn't just that Sharpton is smart and a gifted wordsmith, but that he is unorthodox and highly creative. Bush has trouble following normal discourse, let alone some of the stuff Sharpton would throw at him to take him off guard.

29. Unlike many of the other real "Democrats"
Bush was AWOL and they are not talking about it......? Dean's got the balls, so why hasn't he mentioned it? theehee

The advantage that General Wesley Clark has is that he can call Bush out of the toy flight suit!......even if they "catch" Saddam. He didn't take four (4) bullets and kept commanding his battalion for nothing! And he was just a mere lad then. His book that just came out is being hailed "searing critique" of Bush's American Empire aka, Project for the New American Century (pnac). Haven't hear the others mention that either come to think of it.

Seeing Cement Head bested by a Black Man would send the Freepers over the edge.

I am sure that the suicide rate would treble over night.

The stock market would crash the following day.

And Southern white males would march on Washington demanding reparations for all their ancestors lost slaves.

It could be the great awakening that finally sends conservatives to political oblivion.

All-Time: the Big Dog, hands down. That would be worse than when he whacked Poppy Bush and Bob Dole.

Now: Dean, cos he won't take any shit from anyone in a debate format.

I'd also love to see Bush have to go through the public throttling that Blair goes through on a weekly basis - that is good entertainment, and damnit if Blair does do pretty well for himself in that situation (iraq notwithstanding).

Any career politician would tend to be "diplomatic" and I suspect that even somebody like Al Franken is just too nice a guy to really sink the blade in too deep.
