should I have sent him somewhere other than DU for initial exposure
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 11:35 PM by nu_duer
to the truth?

I jsut started going to this new hole in the wall bar and met a new "friend" tonight who told me he had been a life-long repuke, but being laid-off twice in the last two years had him very much against the idiot.

So I asked him if he surfed the net, and he said yeah. I told him to visit democraticunderground.com, whithout hesitation.

But my question is, should I have pointed him to a site that would have been a softer exposure, initially, and thereby lessening the shock and possible rejection - something that might effect a more gradual transition?

Do you know what I mean?

2. If he could get over the editorialized headlines
These days I might send him over to buzzflash.com

3. I know what you mean...
and no, I think MOST of the stuff here is worthwhile. We've just had a recent eruption in GD, is all.

I'd also recommend Buzzflash to him.

6. DU is now my primary net destination
This is where I hang out.

I started with buzzflash and mwo. But DU has gotten to me, this is where I belong, I think, politcally, at least. I now come to DU first, and sometimes don't check buzzflash or mwo or others for days, but I check DU at least, at LEAST, once a day.

But I feel like I'm in the big pool here, not the kiddie's pool, not the wading pool, and many converts may need something a litte more easy on the transition.

But then again, maybe not, all anyone would have to do is cruise the LBN forum for an hour to realize what sleazy, criminal, murderous pigs have siezed control or our great nation.

*sigh* - that its not obvious to all Americans is baffling...

4. Tell him to read the Washington Post
If they read newspapers they'll convert.

5. Yes another site
You should have recommended the book "Up from Conservativism". Also the book "Blinded by the Right".

DU will probably scare him off.
